Re: Stand Your Ground Against Socialism: Right to Keep and Bear Arms Rally Sept. 29 2
Forgive me for these questions, I have not been to one of these, I've lived in the People's Republic of Illinois for the last 8 years.
The information site lists firearms check-in by the Capitol Police, and provides a form for this. I am not wild about handing over any of my guns. Is this requirement only if you plan to go inside the capitol building to visit reps? I am assuming that PA LTCF holders can still carry? Open carry should be OK, outside, correct? Or are there special rules for this event/location?
I don't think I'll bring a weapon only to turn it over to the Capitol Poice, why bother? And while not a fan of scaring the crap out of the soccer moms carrying in the Starbucks/grocery store/restaurant, I am a big proponent at these kinds of things. It drives the press bonkers when large numbers of gun owners gather, a la Richmond, respect the police, mingle so as to demonstrate we're not racists, compliment the police, and clean up our mess afterwards.
What is the situation here? If I can't carry I'm not bringing any weapon. Thanks for the advice/info. I've tried to determine this myself but cannot find anything definitive.

If you go inside, you must check your handgun and other weapons, rifles and onerously large handguns will/may be denied.
If yiu stay outside, under dur furhers order an ltcf is required for carry, he promised not to enforce that part of the SOE orders though.
Travel without ltcf with firearm is normally restricted, someone can fill you in or dig up a thread. Long guns must be unloaded while in vehicle evem with ltcf. Shit like that.
Event is outside +covid, are we even allowed inside?
Example: I throw handgun on my hip and my loaded ar pistol in the car,
Throw it over my shoulder, do my thing and then repeat on the way home. There is no way to make it out alive...

I doubt that you're allowed inside yet but a call to your rep would let you know for sure. All of the events that I've seen on TV are still out on the steps.

Fallenleader's reply was an overly complicated way of saying "yes, you understand correctly".
If you carry a long gun, you can't go in - because the lockers won't accommodate a long gun.
If carrying a handgun, you check it in for the duration you are inside.
I have no idea if anyone is allowed inside at this time though.

lol
Thanks, guys! I got the smell of the thing now.
I'd love to go, I do have an LTCF, and I will carry openly on my hip with a military-style flap holster or Blackhawk Serpa type for weapon security. I'm not sure about the AR-15, still thinking about it. I thought it was great to see all those happy, polite, friendly, mixed-race people mingling with AR's in Richmond, but it sounds like a PITA to carry an AR around all day. I'm sure there will be enough there to make a point. I'll keep thinking about that, and decide later.
So, you guys are talking about tailgating in a parking lot-- I don't have a generator but I do have a camping stove. I'd think it would be easier to just grab some takeout from McD, DD, or wherever and bring it, but if a tailgate gets organized, I'll play. I'll bring some sausage and a few dozen eggs. Is there a particular parking lot this group meets in? I'd think the Cracker Barrel (inside) would be problematic with this Kung Flu bullshit. Even if we go sandwich route, I'll bring some DD coffee. I wouldn't set foot in a Starfux because of the frequent treatment of LEOs.
I'll look around right after I post this, to see if there are baseball caps for this group or something so we can find each other. This sounds fun!

Found the shirts/sweatshirts. Maybe I'll get a 3.5" button and put that on a hat.
