There are lots of things that sheriffs *choose* to do. I think PAMedic was stating that there are only 3 jobs that Sheriffs are statutorily required to do....as in "shall issue" LTCFs.

Similarly, constables are only statutorily required to "keep the peace" at polling places on election day, though many choose to do other things, like serve warrants.

I'm still looking for the specific statute(s) that enumerate what sheriffs *must* do.

Not required by law. IT is the States problem, so the sheriff can refuse to do so if he is to busy with his work. Or unwilling to waste tax payer money.

The sheriff in Juniata county informed the court that he had other stuff to do.

    PSP was fairly grumpy.

I recently moved from NJ to Philadelphia. I just scheduled my appointment for a LTCF and the first available slot they had was October of 2021! Almost a year from now..

    Almost a year.......
Sounds like it's time for a court to tell them what "shall issue" and "45 days" means. The whole point is they have 45 days to show why you shouldn't have a license, if they can't show why you shouldn't then you should.

    Montgomery Co Update:

Starting 9-Sep-20 emailed applications are no loner accepted. You can either drop off completed applications (new and renewal) at the jury entrance on Airy St, or use their new process at https://montgomerypa.permitium.com/ccw/start where you can apply. Pricing is the same as before $20.00 - but using the new online site requires a non-refundable processing fee. In addition, an online convenience fee is required to process payment.

Bad part is they don't mention what these fees cost..... guess I'll drop off mine next month. What a ripoff.

Neither of those fees are legal.

Maybe not, but here's the screen shot of the fees:

Gun owners failed to show up to vote last mid terms and we got a slew of Soros Sheriffs and now we're complaining?

Just moved from Monroe to Lakawanna County. My Monroe Co LTCF expired in 4/2020. Called the sheriff's office to make an appointment and was told earliest was March 1st 2021. I thinking of just showing up and seeing what they say.

Is it still required that your references live in the same county ? If you haven't changed your paperwork can you renew it in Monroe ?
