What's that? You thought you were in PA? Hah! Just you wait. Pretty soon we'll be introducing you to the concept of appointments to make appointments. And you will like it, comrade!

Allegheny county has appointments scheduled EVERY 5 MINUTES - ALL DAY LONG - every day they are open.

Are appointments worse than going there every day in the hope's that you will get lucky enough to make it inside - one day?

You can shout "constitution" if it makes you feel more manly and all, but that's not reality. Appointments are allowing people to GET their LTCF in an organized fashion.
They are even starting off site locations to help get more processed.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Best to use this as a reason to check your local sheriff dept if your LTCF is due to expire within the next 6 months or even more. Get on the list.

Montgomery County, I applied July 10 online. Sent scanned photo of driver's license and scan of signed application. On July 29 I got an Email from them saying that if there was any problem with my application, they'd let me know and check back in 15 days. So Mid-August, I'll see how to pick it up.

We shall see how it goes!

Dauphin County is walk in service, but they told my son-in-law he would have to stay there until it was processed, even if it took all day, and if it was not completed by 4pm he would have to come back and start over. Also, they told him if he left, it would be torn up and he would have to start over. He waited about an hour-and-a-half, then told them he had to leave to go to work. One deputy took him aside and told him, very quietly and with an admonition not to tell anyone else who was waiting, that they would process his application and mail the license to him if there were no issues. He received it in the mail about 4 days later.

Start telephoning their number that was given in the email saying 15 days. At some stage a "real person" will pick up and they will give you some times that are available. I sent mine in in the early part of June, called from Day 15 to 20, got a person, took 10 minutes from the time I arrived on the "DAY" to walking out with a renewed LTCF. Dave_n
