Brownell’s ALUMA-HYDE II
First time using Brownells ALUMA-HYDE II. I was finishing some aluminum parts for an TNW ASR Aeronautical survival rifle build. First I sprayed down the parts with the recommended TCE degreaser. My first instinct was to apply several coats which turned out to be a mistake. I had some defects in the application. I was able to strip off all of the Aluma-Hyde using Loc-Tite chisel gasket remover. The second time around I applied a light coat just making sure I had sufficient coverage. I followed the instructions on the can and baked the parts at 195 degrees for 3.5 hours in an old toaster oven. I noticed a small area that wasn’t coated fully so I applied another light coat and then rebaked at 195 for another 3.5 hours. The finish seems to have turned out well. We will see how it holds up. So far I would recommend this product.
