Default AR15 trouble stripping first round and mags not dropping free

So I've noticed most of the time whether the bolt is back and I use the release or I put mag in closed bolt and pull charging handle it will not strip the first round out of the mag. I have to push on the mag and work the charging handle at the same time. The gun cycles fine after that. I tried a full mag and it worked fine. Most of these failures were on a magpul 20 rd mag with only 5 rounds in it. Also 30 rd mags dont drop free. Is this a mag release issue? Or something else common that anyone is aware of?
It is an Anderson lower. PSA lower kit.
    Thanks in advance.

Did you build the kit yourself? Some lowers have tighter mag wells than others, have you tried any metal mags? perhaps the Mag catch button is threaded on to far. it should be like this .

Rowland probably nailed it, Insert the mag keeping the mag release button pushed in as far as you can so it does not engage the catch slot on the mag , if you get any wiggle and the mag slips easily in and out, its the catch button screwed in one or two turns too much. if the mag is tight, try good 'ol GI aluminum ones

    It*s not your mag release.

First check your trigger guard. I assume you*re running oversized? Look at the front edge of the trigger guard facing the mag. If it has a wear mark on the guard, sand it down. If that is ok, look at the back spine of the affected mags. Should also be wear marks, where they are sticking. Sand the spots indicated just a bit.

Go slowly, and check often. Should only need a very little amount of material removed.

So I finally had some time to look at this again tonight. The mag well is very tight. Side to side there is a little slop, just like my other two lowers. But front to back you can't move it at all. On the others there is a little front to back wiggle too. Not any movement at all on this one.....unless I tried a forty round mag.....which is a gen 3. All my other mags are gen2 and originals. Maybe going to GI mags is the answer. Would also keep me from confusing 300blk and 5.56....I was going to paint them. Going to borrow a steel mag from a coworker on Monday.

Not exactly sure what's going on, but if a lower can't run Pmags of any gen.. there is an issue. It could be out of spec... Eventually a call to Anderson may be appropriate.

Probably going to switch lowers with my wife's cheap psa build. IT has a Ruger lower on it which is very nice..then selling her rifle.
