Re: Sources for 9mm and .223 ammo
It was a joke. If no one shoots steel, there would be none to pick up.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: Sources for 9mm and .223 ammo
Local gun shop has Federal 100rd boxes of 556 for $50 bucks. Also some 400 rd boxes of 223, federal I think $230, it was a quick look I was buying new ear protection for the wife. Dunklebergers in Broadheadsville.

Re: Sources for 9mm and .223 ammo
I went down to Alburtis Rod & Gun to pay next years dues today. The pistol range cleared out while I was there so I walked up to check the cans for brass. There was a lot of 9mm and only a small amount of 40 and 45 and one 357 and four 38 specials. No 380. Looks like 9mm is pretty popular now. I scored all of it of course.

Re: Sources for 9mm and .223 ammo
Buddy of mine said the local Sportsman's Warehouse had 9mm in stock this morning... I ran right over... Nope, already gone.
Asked the manager if there was any rhyme or reason to it. What day of the week it comes in, etc. He said "nope." It's totally random when it shows up and it's gone in a couple hours.
Sigh.
At this point I've got 2K rounds FMJ each of what I shoot (9mm, .45, .223), and about 1K rounds each of 'defense' ammo: all of which I'm treating as strategic reserve "not to be used except in case of war".
For range/FMJ ammo, I'm basically "out" of .223 above that, and got a few hundred rounds of 9mm and .45 which I'm using (sparingly) for limited range trips and practice.
At this point my goal is just to buy a box or two at a time to replace what I'm shooting at the range, but even that is difficult.
I swear if we ever get back down below $0.30/round (case pricing), I'm bringing the 'reserve' of FMJ up to 5K each and the 'defense' to 2K each.DGAF

Re: Sources for 9mm and .223 ammo
So 8 years of Obama and the 2016 election year didn*t teach you but this one is going to stick? Of course we are assuming this isn*t the new normal. Same can be said for gun owners and hunters as relating to voting. People do not learn. People can*t remember anything. This is what the swamp depends on.
