Re: What equipment do you use for small game processing?
I use a small gerber folding knife with replaceable scalpel type blades, and (if handy) a hatchet or wire cutters to cut off the feet. If not, snap the bone before cutting.
I skinned a few squirrels and tanned the hides just to have done it once. I'm a big fan of the cut-the-tail-and-peel method. If you have ****s/wire snips, cut the front feet off first but not the back. cut under the tail and step on the tail, pull by the feet. Catfish pliers can help grab the hide on the hindquarters but they arent required. Now pull the rear section of the hide up. After getting the hide free of the body, cut off the head and rear feet, and you have a hairless squirrel. Use of catfish pliers helps keep the hiar off the meat.
