I received my LTCF renewal application in the mail this past Saturday. The letter included with the renewal application is dated March 26. It said I could stop by the sheriff's office during normal business hours.

I had to head up to Newtown Square to do some business this afternoon so I figured I might stop by the courthouse to drop off my application. Nope. I got there and was told that I have to make an appointment. No walk in's allowed. I called the number and the person who answered took my name and number and told me they'd call me back to schedule a time to come in and drop off my application.

An hour later I get a call from the Sheriff's office. They tell me that I have to come in on the morning of SEPTEMBER 9TH!

I told the lady that my license expires on July 20, and they didn't send me the application until last week. She said that the Governor has extended licenses through July 31 so I'm good through the end of next month. I said that's nice of him, but my calendar says that September 9th is after July 31st. What if he doesn't give another extension I asked? She said there's nothing they can do about that and to take it up with the Governor.

They're also now requiring renewal applicants to bring two forms of ID with them, and your existing LTCF doesn't count. I asked if my UT permit (which has my picture, name, address, etc. on it) would suffice and she said it would not. I need a driver's license or state ID and something else, such as a utility bill, mortgage statement, etc. I've had a LTCF for over 20 years and have never had to bring any other form of ID with me before to renew. Looks like the Sheriff is trying to make things a little more difficult.
