Default QD or not? Scope mount opinions.

I have both in my collection, but i lean toward qd for ease of moving optics from one rifle to another.

Am i just paying for to avoid a mild inconvenience for nothing?

    Thoughts?

Depends on the rifle. If it's a hunting rifle, then non-QD because likely will never need to remove the scope during the duration of hunting season (unless scope gets damaged). If it's an AR type rifle, then lean towards a QD mount because the AR is a LEGO type thing. One day you want red dot on it, next week it gets used with a variable power scope. Traditional non-QD mount set ups are less parts and lighter on a hunting/target devoted scoped rifle. Military type rifles (AR style) normally don't get set up with devoted scope (unless a DMR or long range use), thus use QD mounts.

If you can only afford a few quality scopes, but have several rifles, then QD would be smart to move scopes around.

As Tacgunner pointed out, each has its use.
