No switchblades for sure, otherwise if you're just looking for a nice folder then you should be all set, except in Philly as mentioned.

The way the statute is written, it seems any assisted opening mechanism is prohibited, meaning a spring-assisted opening is prohibited, not just a switch-blade. Just to be clear of this, I opted for a simple thumb stud model which I can open one-handed pretty easily...

I disagree. The way the statute is written ANY/ALL knives are legal at the state level. It's just a matter of intent/use/storage that could potentially bring a charge.

I'd argue you can't pocket carry an otherwise illegal knife by claiming it's a curio. Really would come down to the cop you encounter whether it gets confiscated/results in a charge.

I agree. That's why I noted that "use" and "storage" are a factor legally. NOT ownership.

In the absence of other criminal acts, there is really no way of making a charge of possession of an automatic (aka, switchblade, aka , prohibited offensive weapon) stick. I'd even go so far as to say that it should be dismissed under 908 Section 312 De Minimus Infractions.
I didn't neglect it. I always understood the curio exemption to be the responsibility of the owner to prove and as such, perilous at best, much less carrying one for protection.

When I was a kid (15-18) and thought knives were "cool", I carried a boot knife pretty much like this everywhere.
Guess it's a good thing I never did anything to get myself in trouble for to have it discovered.

    You mean a boot knife/dagger?
I didn't even notice that in the picture. Never knew they existed with only one sharpened side. (not a knife guy)

Mine sure as hell was sharp on both sides.

That explains that. I think PA knife laws rival CA gun laws in stupidity
