Anybody have any real data on the most ammo sold per day in the last 20 years?

ETA: A quick search says that experts guess that we sell somewhere between 8-15 billion rounds per year in the USA, so figure maybe a billion rounds a month, 100 million rounds every 3 days, 33 million rounds per day.
I did my part, I bought 1700+ today at Walmart.

FWIW, I bought every 12 gauge 00 buck shell they had at the Walmart I visited this morning. Yep, 25 rounds.

After Sandy Hook, I realized that I hoovered up way too much .22. Then I started selling it off to people who needed some. Then after 6 or 8 months with no end in sight, I said "what, am I crazy?" and stopped selling. Now I still have too much, and I'm starting to sell and trade to friends.

But how much is really too much? Let*s just say that for every caliber gun that I have I have 5000 rounds on hand. 22LR 50,000

Is that too much? Too little? What*s the line?
