Can someone tell me what year PA started putting the picture on their drivers license? TIA

A damned long time ago. In the 80s for sure.

I found info to suggest CA was the first, in 1958, and NY was the last, in 1984, but nothing specific to PA yet. I obtained my first DL in the late 80's, and as far as I new, it was the "norm" then.

I am thinking it was the late 70s. I remember getting my official LCB card in 1974 when I turned 21, and it was not too long after that those were discontinued because photo DLs served the purpose. When you changed your address they still sent a stupid paper change notice to keep with the card though.

I got my DL in 1983, and it had a photo. It was not optional.

My last non-photo "IBM card" PADL was issued in the summer of 1976. Then I moved to a different state in 1978, and didn't move back to PA until 1992.

Probably not for a new license, That would actually make sense No..Kinda like gradually...I had a class 3 license back in the day, cdl came into being around 92 so I'm assuming a little after that we went to pictures...so actually maybe mid 90's. I know my first ltcf was in 97 and it had no picture..

Thinkin, you guys gotta remember a DL is good for 5 years, If I got 1 option that's a 10 year span

The law was changed in 1976, effective July 1, 1977.
