    Default Thoughts on monopods?

I've been toying with the idea of getting a monopod for taking shots while standing. My air rifle (yeah yeah) is very heavy and needs to be fired from a rest. It has no way to be fitted with a bipod and having a bipod that was tall enough would be awkward anyway.

Does anybody have any experience with Bog or Primos?

In particularl, i was looking at:
    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1007642061?pid=958103

    And
    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020679581?pid=295396

Based on msrp, the Bog looks like a better deal. But that doesn't always equate to a better product.

Is there anything I should know about either company? Customer service? Warranties? Durability?

If you're looking to get something to shoot off of, get yourself a tripod instead. You could also kill two birds with one stone and get yourself a tripod with a monopod integrated into it.
This is one I just recently purchased and it seems to be of good quality. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I definitely don't want a tripod. I'm looking for relatively lightweight and simple. These aren't sitting shots. And the rifle has zero way to affix it to a bipod or tripod. So if it is just sitting loosely in a cradle, the difference between a monopod or tripod is going to be relatively low.

I actually ordered a UTG monopod yesterday so we'll see if it is what i need or if I'm talking out of my ass very soon. Not my first choice in brands, but by some strange fluke, i won a "log in daily to win a prize" contest on an airgun site and that is what they had. Since it was essentially free, the bar is set very low.

Been using a pole cat during hunting season for at least 10yrs. It's functional for it's use.

I have used monopods for photography for years. They also work as a walking stick which as I get older is a nice touch.
Did you see this one for under $20? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020679224?pid=451116
Unfortunately shipping is $9 which sucks, $10 for two, if you can use them.

I did see it. But i spent 22$ and change and ended up with the utg one, a bunch of high vis targets, and like 1500 high end pellets in .177 and .22.

I received my UTG monopod today. It is perfect for me. I'm sure there are nicer monopods, but it does what i need it to do.

The height adjustment is pretty secure. Reminds me of the harris bipod legs with the annular rings on the legs for the mechanism to lock into. It also has a pic rail mount for tactical rifles.
