a few years back at 73 I built my self an AR15. Just to see if i could. Naked lower and upper. It ran and still does without a hitch. Satisfying for an old fart.

Not really a new build, but more a refreshed build.

Started out as a 8" 5.56 barreled pistol, now its a 300BLK 9" barrelled SBR.

Added a Vortex 3x magnifier, Ultradyne Athena linear comp, Magpul CTR stock, Hogue overmold pistol grip, and a Strike Industries vert grip,

Lancer lower, Anderson lower parts, ALG ACT FC group, DPMS upper. Runs good, especially after replacing the Anderson trigger stuff, which had reset problems from the start.

I bought a bulk order online and it shipped in a beat up old military ammo can. Beat up but serviceable with a good rubber seal.

So I buffed out the rust and a few dents, repainted it, and made a stencil.... and now I have a new range ammo can for transport!

Weigh ins needed on a proposed build. Project Sauron “one build to rule them all” ultimate modular AR. Still toss up between 6” 300blk and 5.5”-7.5” 5.56 (leaning towards 5.56 for ammo cost/availability)

-New Frontier c4 left side charging upper
-Pantheon arms DOLOS 6” prometheus MC
-ballistic advantage modern series DRP barrel
-YHM .750 low pro gas block
    -CMMG stainless gas tube
-PWS linear comp (thanks to EM)
-BCG to be determined (suggestions welcome for a FA cut bcg that wont break the bank)

-Forged stripped lower (tbh, suggestions welcome)
-KNS precision Mod 1 anti walk/rotation hardware
    -Strike industries extended takedown pins
    -LJ’s gen2 ambi safety selector
    -Hogue overmolded grip
    -LAW tactical folder
    -JP H2 SCS
    -6 position tube
    -shockwave blade/strike industries/tailhook 2 brace (tbd…wasnt thrilled with the floppy dicked SBA3)

The idea is to use a Graves Alamo-15 trigger or similar. Also to add a 16”-18” 5.56 rifle gas HBAR set up with DOLOS for easy rifle configuration. A second drop in single stage 3lb trigger will be used for hog/deer hunting out west with this swap.

Take a look at Bkingsfirearms first their duty grade barrels are ballistic advantage barrels ( I spent a ridiculous amount with them the past 3 weeks) also check out the sba 4 vs 3 less floppy like or tailhook ( Hell swing by the house I have a few with tailhooks and sba 4s if you just want to get a feel for them ) .

I would suggest checking out the Bkings combat control lower parts kits or just the ambi safety / extended mag release and the combat bolt release

    https://bkingsfirearms.com/shop/ar15...d-and-a2-grip/

    https://bkingsfirearms.com/shop/ar15...t-control-kit/

also they have melonite coated gas tubes that help keep carbon fouling down internally.

forged stripped lower ( well Bkings has their mod 1 series that is supposed to be a stupid tight fit to their mod 1 and mod 0 uppers.)

Lo pro gas block well I mean as long as its good steel and us made that can be had pretty much anywhere.

B kings also has their 7075 buffer tubes on sale for $12.50 too

    https://bkingsfirearms.com/product-c...y/bargain-bin/

As for the bcg well right now the worlds your oyster but I highly suggest the HM defense BCG ( I would grab this from a different vendor for a lower price but this explains why I say this)

I’ll take ya up on that offer re: brace testing. I’ll send ya a PM this weekend/next week

Some of this stuff i have left over from other builds (YHM gas block etc). I’d really like to do an 80% forged lower for this, in part because i’ve never cut one before and have a poly80 308 lower waiting to build out when i get out west again. Plus, well…fuck the atf lol.

Pretty set on the LJ’s ambi safety, they are ridiculously nice and cheap-ish. Short throw and more comfortable than anything else i’ve used (doesnt ride the index knuckle on the grip)

BCG i considered JP LMOS but not sure it’ll cooperate with my intended fcg.
