Re: 243 or 6.5 creedoor for deer hunting ?
Each caliber has it's own pros and cons. If you already own a 243 and it's a good shooter, there is your deer rifle! The creed has a little more versatility but not much more. I will say that the 243 quite literally destroys meat. The Creedmore depending on the loads chosen may be a bit better in dropping a deer without the impact destruction. There are so many of these questions floating out here that it simply can only be answered by the words "whatever works best for you".

I'll grant you that. Both use bonded factory offerings but not the same manufacturers. Deer were hit within 50 yards.

Deer are thin skinned game, so 243 or 6.5CM will do the job. Shot placement trumps caliber. The flavor of the week is 6.5CM and thats what all of the cool kids are buying, but the .243 is no slouch either. I killed my first deer with a .243 with ease.

Re: 243 or 6.5 creedoor for deer hunting ?
I have used various 6.5's for many years. I have no plans on a 6.5 CM because all the other 6.5's I have will pretty much do the same thing. I shot one deer with a .243. No complaints, but had a 6MM Rem I liked better. Don't know why. I do know that if I went into a strange hunting area not knowing what to expect as far as terrain, the .243 would stay on the rack.
