    Default Joining the club--S&W style

    Hey all,

FINALLY bought my first gun tonight--and, as things have a way of going, it wasn't either of the models I thought it would be. Money isn't really the best right now but I guess I justified it with "it's not THAT much/your birthday's in less than a week/who knows how the election will take things/you've been wanting to buy a gun for almost a year now and always finding reasons not to/life is short--make yourself happy".The things we do

Anywho, now proud owner of a Smith & Wesson 669. Got it used in pretty awesome condition (the only noticeable wear is a tiny bit near the safety). Put 50 rounds through pre-purchase and it's a definite change from the Glock I'd been renting from the shop every week; I think once I get some more range time with it though we're going to be good buddies. All in all a pretty sleek and sexy looking creature.

Ok, so--this is probably a pointless thread but I'm excited! Pictures later..
I'm gonna show him what little girls are made of, gunpowder and lead...

Nice choice. As long as the gun is comfortable for you to shoot, you should really enjoy it.

Congrats on the purchase. Now may I suggest if not already down is enroll your self in a credible defensive handgun course. Worth every penny. Practice practice practice, all aspect from your draw to fast reloads. Spend an ass ton of time on the range with your new best friend get to know it in and out. These small things may some day save your life or the life of another.

IMO, you can't go wrong buying a S&W revolver. They are works of art and function beautifully.

The 669 is a semi-auto pistol--never got around to trying a revolver but this one is pretty nice looking too. Here's a link from somewhere else (http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...9658)--I'm working on getting some pictures of mine up after I get home from work tonight.

Good for you! If you don't already have them, I expect to see you asking about getting a LTCF (philly, ugh) and a cc/oc holster.

Have the LCTF (Philly isn't my "permanent" county of residence so I got it in 25 minutes ish); no holster yet---soon though

Congrat on your new family member. Play with it often, and enjoy. BTW, you will find that you want another soon!

Well, of course it is. I was just messin' with ya'. Yeah, I thought it was one of those L-frame 357mags with fixed sights, musta been thinkin of the 681. Never shot a S&W semi before, but have heard some good reviews. Not sure what caliber it shoots, I'm guessing 9mm though. Good luck with it!
