You can do better than Kimber in that price range such as RIA...

I've never owned or shot one, but my perception is that they are a decent gun. I have a friend who owns one (not sure what model) and he seems happy with his.

I have a 10 year old TLE RL II which has been absolutely excellent since the day I purchased it. It was everything I wanted and nothing I didn't need that would cost me a whole lot more. I think most Kimbers above the level of the mine $850.00 at that time tend to be way overpriced and all you are really getting is funky scalp cuts and other cosmetics that do not make much sense to me. I have handled and shot many others and their overall fit and finish has always been very good as compared to other options like the Stainless Ruger SR1911 that my brother has which runs really well but sounds like the internals are coming loose.

For $600.00 I would take a chance on that model myself especially in 9mm, the stainless finish which they do very well, and my past experience with my gun. Just know that they offer a industry shitty 1 year full warranty (unless that changed). For me that's their biggest drawback, many will say it's their use of MIM parts but unless your getting into the semi customs like DW and up they all use MIM.

I’d do a lot of research. Kimber has a run where they just were not very good guns. Lots of cheap parts and what not. They are not the kimber of old.

I think I'll give it a try. If my Arithmetic is correct, it should cost me around 540. That's about what a Glock would cost.
