9mm AR pistol, bent firing pin
Finished up my 9mm AR pistol and took it to the range today to test it out.
First round, went bang and cycled correctly - good start
Second round, same as the first - going good
Third round, "click" manually cycle, "click" Looked at both rounds, very light primer strike
Put gun away until I could look at it, finished the other guns that needed to be tested, all went well, went home.
Later this afternoon, I pulled the BCG and noticed the tip of the FP was protruding a tiny bit. Pulled the FP retaing pin and the FP would not drop out. Forced it out with a punch (no hammer) and noticed it was slightly bent. Bent enough that the FP spring would not force it back to the ready position.
Just a weak (not hardened correctly) firing pin?
Just had a thought, I need to check the FP tip opening in the BGC to see if it is too small.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Who made the firing pin? The 9mm platform is tough on hammers and fire control components and iirc there was a run from a manufacture that had this issue.

Which bcg is this? I haven't taken my 9mm bcg apart, but i didn't realize that there might be a firing pin spring.

Re: 9mm AR pistol, bent firing pin
Truthfully I cannot say who made the firing pin or the BGC. I bought the BGC last Nov at the Tulsa gun show. This Nov. I'll be able to find out as the sellers are there every year in the same place. I'll take a picture of the BGC and post it as soon as I can.
Firing pin hole in the BGC is fine, looking down through I don't see anything that would cause it to hang up. It looks like the bend is in the main part of the body of the FP so when the FP protrudes, the slight curvature is enough to not allow the spring to return it.
I got a couple different AR pistol FP's on order right now and some replacement springs.
