Re: Running an AR15 with no buffer retaining pin?
Meanwhile, I have removed the retaining pin and spring from one AR (buffer showed multiple heavy impacts on the pin) and plan on removing them from two others. I put a small sticker by the rear takedown pin saying NO BUFFER PIN.
Firing the empty gun puts the hammer up, and the hammer will stop the buffer if the missing retainer is forgotten. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: Running an AR15 with no buffer retaining pin?
I actually managed to break off the pin on a buffer retainer during building my first AR, replaced with a new one to be safe.
That reinforced one posted above me looks like a good thing to keep on hand with the spare parts.Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
