Wonder how much faster you can push em over the 2700fps area they claim.

It looks interesting, but I don't want to be the guinea pig. .224 Valkyrie was supposed to be the next best thing, but there were growing pains with bullet selection and twist rates that didn't allow them to achieve the precision they had hoped. I think that's been more or less worked out now, but it still doesn't seem to have caught on. The press announcements have barely cooled on that, and now there's this shiny new round.

I'll stick with 6.5 Grendel. It's established, there is better ammo availability and selection, and you can even shoot cheaply with Wolf's steel cased offering. It's not a 1,000 yard cartridge, but most don't have access to that kind of distance to begin with.

I compared the ballistics of the 90 grain Sierra load for the 224 Valkyrie and the 108 grain load for the 6mm ARC. Velocity, drop and drift are almost identical out to 1000 yards. The ARC only beats Valkyrie in energy on target. If you're only shooting steel or paper there is really no difference.

The Valkyrie is hobbled by Federal's poor rollout after all the hype. I think Hornady might have better success as they have been shooting this with (presumably) some Special Forces units for a while and have probably worked the bugs out.

It's what the .224 should have been.

224 Valkyrie is a brass eater. One guy at the range is getting 3 or 4 reloads and cases are junk. (Head separation).

With 6.5 Grendel we have had over 10 reloads with the same case.

If the ARC brass holds up it will shine as a winner in the AR platform.

And yes 6.5 Grendel will go 1k yards. We do it every weekend.
