H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
Good Afternoon!
I have two H&K pistols (HK45 and VP9SK) and they both have a weird uneven wear on the feed ramp. The middle of the feed ramp appears to have popped up a little bit and it almost has some sort of a ridge there for a lack of a better term. I have a few other pistols (sig, glock, springfield) and haven't noticed it on any of them, just the H&K's. I noticed it on the 45 after over 500 rounds, but I have less than 200 rounds in the VP9SK and it's already starting. I rarely use anything but federal ammunition, so I know it isn't from cheap ammo. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
I just looked at my VP9 (full size) and mine also looks like that. I wonder if it was done when machining the feed ramp to "help" the rounds enter the chamber from their double stack magazine. Yes, other pistols have double stack mags and probably aren't machined this way but also think about an AR with the M4 cuts on the barrel extension for feeding rounds from an AR mag (double stack).
My VP9 feeds and functions flawlessly so I'm not in a hurry to worry about it.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
Good point, I would have never thought of that. I didn't notice it when they were new but I suppose they could have come out of the box like that.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
Just took a look at my VP9 and nothing like that at all after several thousand rounds through it.
Supplemental info:
-In 9mm, I shoot only brass, if that matters.
-Mine is circa 2015, design/manufacturing tweaks may vary over time
-Mine sees irregular-but-heavy usage. E.g. it's a 'range gun' I take with me every few trips, so put a few hundred rounds through it 3-4x a year.
-Like Xringshooter, mine has always been flawless, so this is really the first time I closely examined the feed ramp.DGAF

Re: H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
Send photo to the company and ask for explanation.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: H&K Pistols Feed Ramp
I have no idea why I didn't think of that... I just got a reply from them "That is normal, and will not hinder function."
I'm satisfied with it as it hasn't hindered function yet. I was worried about uneven wear leading to cracking or something like that but I guess I won't worry about that anymore.
Thanks guys!

Interesting the company replied, "That is normal, and will not hinder function." and not, "That is normal, it aids function".
