Default Midwest Industries battle rifle sights broke

The front sight of my Midwest Industries battle rifle sights is broken. I was using it at the range yesterday when the front sight came loose, the screw that's used to tighten the sight down to the rail broke in half and the sight is now stuck on the rail. This was mounted on the gas block of a WW AR10. I emailed customer support with the picture and receipt, waiting for response. Any idea how to get the front sight off now? I was thinking of using a flat head plier to turn the screw that's now broken in half.

Did you install the sight? If so, how many inch pounds did you use?

Ar15.com has a thread where multiple people experienced multiple failures of the screws. Seems to be a common problem.

I can't answer for how to remove the sight. But pictures would definitely help.

Years ago manufacturers were having problems with suppliers of fasteners getting counterfeit products which failed in the field. Even the aircraft assembly industry had to watch for them.

MI may be experiencing a similar situation. Or, their engineers misjudged the type needed. Either way, MI needs to do anything necessary to make the consumer whole.

Customer service said they'll send out another set of screws.

But what if the broken one required professional removing? Would they accept responsibility for that repair which, but for their product, would not have been necessary? Or removal damaged the part it was holding? Just food for thought regarding what CS will offer.
