Ohh I thought you were saying I was being illogical. I do agree with you on that though. I used to collect them, sold a lot but still have a dozen or so. The most I paid for a PU was $550.00 and that was a non refurb with a correct matching scope. I have sold several from standard 91/30’s to Snipers, civil guard, and DDR’s from a few hundred bucks to well well over 1K.

I still have a few more nice PU’s I’m sitting on.

No more ridiculous than people paying that much for a 1911, springfield, or garand.

Mosins in general have seen a hell of a lot more history then most US stuff

While the MN is completely inferior in build quality I do tend to agree with you. M1 Carbines are priced to the ridiculous starting out at $1K for completely pitted, mismatched, and rotted junk guns and up from there. Those CMP 1911’s would have been a good purchase for a shooter Grade at $500-$700.00 but for $1300 or more for pitted mixmasters no thanks.

Garands I love and still don’t have one. So if anyone wants a great shooting PU Sniper and has a nice Garand they want to trade drop me a line.

Reminds me of the '68 Dodge Dart Hemi factory drag car someone was selling in Hemming's Motor News for $75k 30 years ago. This was when show quality muscle cars could be had for $15-$20k.

Its one of one made, with a factory race tuned Hemi but in the end, it's still a Dodge Dart.

Mosins are all over the place when it comes to quality, a remington or Westinghouse would easily equal or surpass what the US turned out in WW II as far as "old world" craftsmanship goes

I’ve seen but never handled any of the American made Mosin so that can be true. I’ve owned several Finns and while they were tighter fitted and better looking they were no more accurate or less shitty when it comes to smoothness and stuck cases and bolts then any other Russian m44 or M38 that I have owned. My most accurate and best running rifle outside of the PU variants is a Chinese T53. I had a really excellent Polish M44 but I let it go and every once in awhile I regret that.

    That's like paying $3500 for a hi-point.

I think I'd rather have the hipoint. Especially if it is the carbine.

Actually , the Bolsheviks claimed they did NOT meet quality specs, part of the reason they refused them.
