Default Going to bite the bullet: Buying a Trijicon ACOG

I want to ditch my chinese made optic on my AR carbine. It's currently brand "V", 3x. I'm looking into a 3.5x or 4x ACOG (want to treat myself to an anniversary present, seeing as my wife and kid went on vacation without me..... don't worry, not a marriage issue.... she lost her best friend recently to cancer and is visiting with the surviving family in Virginia Beach.... I have to stay home to watch the chickens). The rifle is just a standard flat top 16" mid length carbine. Nothing special (yes, the optic will be worth more than the gun).

The only thing I am sure of is I want a standard crosshair reticle (no donut, horseshoe, or chevron).... BDC reticles are ok, too (I think they all come with them anyway). I actually like the ones that have the "shoulder width" range finder feature (the kind shown below).

    I'm thinking this one:

Any advice? Where to buy? Also, I am color blind. I don't have any issue with my current scope which is red or green selectable, but maybe amber would be more appropriate? Any advice is appreciated.

My buddy convinced me that I needed one of those and I got the one with the red chevron. I didn't know what to go with on that so I went that, I didn't think much of the horseshoe or circle idea. I have no complaints about it. One thing I'm not seeing in that description is that they are also barrel length specific so be sure you get one for the right barrel length. He also told me that Optics Planet is a little less gun friendly so I got mine at Midway.

Big new favorite is the ACOG with the ACSS reticle which the military has adopted now.

For some reason videos won’t imbed from my phone anymore so deal with it.

It would be nice to take it to Harrisburg.... but it's being delivered "by the 8th", so I may not be able to bring it. But my local club (Swamp Creek) has never closed, so I can take it there to zero it.

Ok, I just made it to the PA law forum. Looks like I may still be able to bring it to the Rally.... if/when it happens.
