AR15 mag loaders
Like to get some opinions on mag loaders for AR15. I have a Lula for pistols. I like it, but it's the only experience I've had with mag loaders. I know they make one for AR mags, might get one for the range. Been looking at some of the bulkier loaders for home use. What yall think?

Re: AR15 mag loaders
Get a 223 maglula. They're worth every penny. You put it over the top of the magazine, it locks into the mag catch, and there's a lever on top that you rock back and forth. It pushes the round top round down far enough that you can just drop the next one in without having to mash it down with your thumb. Also, if you want to unload the mag, you tilt it forward, rock the lever back and forth and all of the ammo falls out. I have one for 223 and just ordered one for 7.62x39 AR mags. The 223 fits and it kind of works but because the case diameter is different, I can't drop the 7.62 round in. I have to push it in.

I like the MagLULA since it's small enough to toss into a range bag, and you don't have to arrange all those round in a line.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: AR15 mag loaders
Several years ago, when I took my younger brother to his first Oaks gun show, he bought me one of those AR mag loaders like the one in post #3, as a thank you gift. It works great and makes loading mags a breeze, I don't know what he paid for it but it's worth every cent.

Re: AR15 mag loaders
I have a vertical dump pouch that's 9"x5" in my range toolbox with my pistol and rifle maglula and a loader for my Stribog magazines. I load my mags on the couch while watching tv with my wife after we shoot. If you had one of those giant podavach loaders, they probably work well but I think it would be a lot more difficult to use unless you clear a table for it.

Re: AR15 mag loaders
Maglula strip loader is my go to for personal ammo. Mainly because the rare times i sit watching TV I'll load ammo onto stripper clips. At the range, 10sec and i have a loaded mag.
You can use this w/o the strippers as well, just load 10 into the loader and push the lever down.
Other than that, the maglula is key; 223/7.62x39/Uzi/MP5/pistol lula
The MP5 mags load easy w/o it, but still nice after a day of shooting/loading on the thumbs.
I made a few of the large mag loaders Exflyinguy posted. Worked well, but just one more thing to throw in the truck lol
