I posted a .jpg in meme thread and instead of showing the image, it shows up as the image name with the .jpg extension. I deleted it for now.

Attached images using the Attach tags are showing as URL's.

I am quite confident this is the same underlying problem as the Human Verification Images. The servers are missing a package that allows them to dynamically generate/manipulate images.

This will be a slightly more complicated fix, and requires a bit more testing, I hope to have this fixed tomorrow, but today may not be likely.

Quotes in the title do not turn into asterisks. That narrows things down. Check character set encoding on the table with the message body?

That is certainly a possibility, although I am a bit confused as to how it would manifest. The database didn't change at all, simply restored a snapshot into a different account.

I am still interested if anyone else is able to reproduce this though, I can't, but I can see what you're describing.

This should be a fun one to track down.

At this point, I believe we are stable, but not bug-free. Thankfully most of the bugs being tracked, while inconvenient, are not catastrophically breaking. The worst problem seems to be the one related to generating images for attachments and human verification.

My plan for now is to focus on forum stability for the rest of the evening to make sure the core functionality of the forum is humming so that I can focus on fixing the bugs tomorrow which is going to require a much deeper dive into debugging the forum code itself.

Thank you everyone for your patience, and my apologies that a few issues popped up, but I do think I'll be able to get them all sorted out over the next couple days.

It did.

So it is definitely an issue of encoding in the table in the dB or the code that writes to that table. Before upgrade, it had character encoding compatible with smart punctuation... now it doesn't.

Turning off smart punctuation in the keyboard settings solves it. However, it always worked before. I am going to leave it off because it solves a long-standing different quotes issue I have had for years on another forum.

The site appears to have become very unfriendly to Internet Explorer 11. It wouldn't allow me to add reputation (very important) or Reply with Quote. Frankly, I'm surprised the Reply to Thread worked.
