Default MAN SHOOTS, KILLS BURGLAR STEALING DJ EQUIPMENT FROM A TRAILER

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are interviewing a man who shot and killed an alleged burglar who was breaking into his trailer to steal DJ equipment.

It happened around 4 a.m. on the 2700 block of East Somerset Street in the city's Port Richmond section.
Police said when officers arrived they found the suspected burglar two blocks away from the scene, collapsed next to an SUV containing some of the stolen goods on Thompson Street.

Investigators said the SUV belonged to the man's girlfriend, who was helping him take the DJ equipment from the trailer.

Police said at least three shots were fired, with one hitting the 39-year-old man in the back.

OK, anyone who ever took one of my workshops on "using deadly force", explain why the shooter (a) should not be talking to police, and (b) why he's in trouble.

Never took one of your work shops but my brothers, two cousins, and a couple if friends are active or retired cops and all say the same thing.

    A. Never talk to the cops without a lawyer present especially when it's a self defense issue.
    B. Using deadly force to defend personal property vs ones life from imminent danger are two very different things.

Having any workshops coming up in the distant future?

I personally don't care where a perp, catches lead. There could be numerous very good lawful reasons why this could occur, but talking to the police about any of it is unlikely to yield positive results for the shooter.

    a) Anything he says can be used against him?

    b) He forgot to say, "I was in fear for my life or great bodily harm, and I could not retreat."?
