Typical blame the victim view
Houston Tx experiencing increased gun thefts from vehicles. I will not put a gun org sticker on my vehicle or house door. It advertises "there may be guns in here". Thieves have caught on that people who go into shooting ranges often have other guns in their vehicles, so they hit the parking lot. Or follow a purchaser leaving a gun store. It's called gun jugging.
A LEO says, " ...gun owners can help stop gun juggers if they properly secured their firearms in locked containers or safes when the guns remain inside an unoccupied vehicle".
“That’s something you have to live with, that your complacency was a factor in that [theft],” he said, adding that “One less gun on the street is one less victim out there.”
Sounds like lousy math to me. Pretty obvious that one gun can be used to injure and kill a hell of a lot more than one victim.
I have to question the concept of being called complacent when someone breaks into my locked vehicle. Or locked house, for that matter. My being responsible or sharing responsibility for not making a thief's life difficult smells of a form of socialism.
I'm not allowed to say, "well...look at the way she is dressed" in a rape incident. Why is it OK to say, "Well, look at how it was secured"?There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Yeah, stickers can be cute, clever and all but they don't belong on cars or on house doors....for one thing it's tacky looking in my opinion along with the point that you mentioned.

The solution to the problem would be to incarcerate or exterminate the criminals. However, I do not put stickers of any type on my vehicles. No matter what I like there is some asshole out there who will be against it and want to take it out on me.

Yeah, I do not put gun stickers on my vehicles for the same reason intelligent women do not dress slutty when visiting biker bars. It’s called advertising.
As for locking my guns up! Fuck that, fuck anyone who says they need to be! That said, mine are either in the safe or on my body. But, fuck anyone/everyone who espouses the theory they need to be. As far as I’m concerned, if they are in my car, my house, Hell, for that matter, on my front porch, they are securely on my property. You try to take them and I find out, you’re in for a bad day if I find you.
I’m of the belief that I should not have to lock doors to keep you honest. I do indeed lock doors, but that should never be an argument for “it’s partially your fault” as pointed out previously by another poster when speaking about rape victims.

Re: Typical blame the victim view
The fault of a crime is 100% on the person committing the crime, but the fact that the crime was against YOU, is partially your fault. I should be allowed to leave my doors unlocked but the reality is that said behavior makes it easier for someone to victimize me and not the other house down the block.
I should be able to walk around the worst neighborhoods is a city with a stack of $100 bills in my hand at night and not be victimized, but if I do, do I really not bear any blame for that crime being perpetrated AGAINST ME?
It's the reason many of us carry a firearm. It's not our fault that there are criminal and violent people in the world but there are steps that can be taken to minimize the chance that it affects you.

I don't see the difference between a smashed-in door and a smashed-open safe, other than an attaboy for going the extra precaution...not to mention additional expense.

I have 3X5" American flag stickers on the rear windows of my pickup & my wifes Jeep. The American flags alone are enough to trigger some of these twats to vandalise our vehicles. I'm not about to put gun or political stickers on them.

Re: Typical blame the victim view
One of the problems I see with the "keep it in a safe if its in the car" philosophy is that criminals tend to be adaptive creatures. If everyone is keeping their guns in safes in their cars criminals will eventually change tactics. Easiest way to ensure guns aren't stolen from cars is to not have places where carry is restricted so guns don't have to be left in cars.

I agree with not putting stickers on my cars and other property. In a perfect world, there should be no problem. In our current reality, it can encourage theft, encourage vandalism against my poor helpless car while I'm away from it, and even be used as an extenuating circumstance - my client was so outraged at the racist, sexist, pro/anti/neutral/meh statement on the car that he/she felt obligated to key it, break the window, snatch all the empty shopping bags, grab anything of value in it. It wasn't a crime, it was a political statement, at least I'm waiting to see if that ever happens.
