Best solvent for cleaning suppressor?
Anyone have a preferred solvent for cleaning suppressors? Talking specifically the tube, which I can't put into an ultrasonic cleaner. I've been using Hoppes, but I still have some pretty major buildup on both of my .45 suppressors.

I use a mixture of hot water and Simple Green. Elbow grease and a brush softer than the material of your suppressor goes a long way too.

I was told transmission fluid. I hook a wire through it and dunk it in
and let it sit til the next time I use it. Seems to work.

I just use warm dawn dish soap and water and a shotgun bore brush in a cordless drill.

I don't know how well it would work in that application but when I drop greasy bolts into MEK overnight they come out pretty damn nice, no scrubbing necessary.

After you get it clean give it the silicone oil treatment. Harley break fluid is a good choice. YouTube it.

Re: Best solvent for cleaning suppressor?
My nephew in Georgia has several suppressors and I asked him. He says he bought a soda blaster from Harbor Freight and uses it to remove the heavy carbon, then dishwashing soap and warm water soak.
I have the same soda blaster, no harm to any metals, cleans really well, no big mess to clean up in the driveway (as opposed to sand blaster), and it washes right off with water.
