reduced power AR springs

Will reduced power springs like the JP Enterprise 3.5lb fix a heavy trigger pull in and of themselves (vs. replacing the rest of the mechanism)? And if so, will they continue to be reliable?

Got an Anderson kit which appears decent visually (not great, but not horrible) but which has a HORRENDOUSLY heavy trigger pull on it. I'm not coming from the world of Geiselles and Timneys here either...I'm talking way worse than a standard PSA type trigger. Looking for a cheap way to lighten the pull while retaining reliability.

Try disassembling it and then re-assembling.... could be just a bound spring in there or grit or something in one of the pivot holes. If you've already tried that, I apologize.

Thanks. Haven't tried but will double check. I think its more the springs though. The pull is heavy, more than gritty. Thinking back, they were more of a PITA than usual to get in on that one.

PSA 2 stage

Possibly as a next step. That or an EPT if they get them back in stock (have one and like it). Its a cobbled together one though, and I'm trying to get out cheap. Its likely to sit more than the others, unless it suddenly proves itself in the same class (TBD...minimal range time so far, in part because of shit trigger pull). Mostly looking for ' does not suck and still functions'.

I use qms triggers, I love them.. you get a smooth mil-spec trigger polish by Giselle, for 50bucks.. check them out..

I tried them in one of my AR's. Trigger pull was way better but I would get a light strike every once in a while. You can leave the hammer spring standard and just change the trigger spring.

Instead of monkeying I'd wait to get an EPT or ALG QMS/ACT ... otherwise it seems like it's polishing a turd.

A polished turd can be much better than a turd left unpolished, and for significantly lower cost than even inexpensive new parts.

OP, Google "15 minute trigger job" for a simple procedure that essentially duplicates the effect of the JP springs at no cost.

I've got an older bushmaster with a JP and cut hammer, I love the feel. I've also polished 4 or 5 other milspec AR's and it does make a big difference for the time and money invested. After polishing, add a little candle soot to the two contact faces and make sure you've got square contact between the two parts. I prefer a 600 grit or greater 3M emory paper and a good square edged piece of glass.
