    Default reduced power AR springs

Will reduced power springs like the JP Enterprise 3.5lb fix a heavy trigger pull in and of themselves (vs. replacing the rest of the mechanism)? And if so, will they continue to be reliable?

Got an Anderson kit which appears decent visually (not great, but not horrible) but which has a HORRENDOUSLY heavy trigger pull on it. I'm not coming from the world of Geiselles and Timneys here either...I'm talking way worse than a standard PSA type trigger. Looking for a cheap way to lighten the pull while retaining reliability.

Try disassembling it and then re-assembling.... could be just a bound spring in there or grit or something in one of the pivot holes. If you've already tried that, I apologize.

Thanks. Haven't tried but will double check. I think its more the springs though. The pull is heavy, more than gritty. Thinking back, they were more of a PITA than usual to get in on that one.

Possibly as a next step. That or an EPT if they get them back in stock (have one and like it). Its a cobbled together one though, and I'm trying to get out cheap. Its likely to sit more than the others, unless it suddenly proves itself in the same class (TBD...minimal range time so far, in part because of shit trigger pull). Mostly looking for ' does not suck and still functions'.

I use qms triggers, I love them.. you get a smooth mil-spec trigger polish by Giselle, for 50bucks.. check them out..

I tried them in one of my AR's. Trigger pull was way better but I would get a light strike every once in a while. You can leave the hammer spring standard and just change the trigger spring.

Instead of monkeying I'd wait to get an EPT or ALG QMS/ACT ... otherwise it seems like it's polishing a turd.

Thanks all. Gonna give Kaw Valley springs a shot. Were only $5 and tout a 'better' pull but not as light as JPs, but also less likely to light strike supposedly. https://ar15discounts.com/products/k...er-spring-kit/

I figure its a good, cheap first step, and if it doesn't work, I'm only out $5. The DIY trigger jobs were a consideration but for $5, I'd rather not risk messing something up. A better trigger may follow eventually if this doesn't go far enough, but I'm fairly hopefully these will put it on an acceptable path.

"polishing" sear engagement surfaces is something that I don't recommend. Cheap parts are surfaced hardened. When you grind them away to be better, you run the risk of also exposing "soft" metal which will continue to wear faster than normal. This could eventually lead to accidental discharges. Non MIM mil spec trigger parts are so cheap, I don't know why anyone would fuck around with trying to home smith engagement surfaces. If you want "glass rod breaking" AR trigger performance, you are going to have to pony up some cash.
