Default Open carry in PA Michaux state forest

I am going hiking over the weekend in Michaux state forest in PA. I do not have my LCTF yet but have applied. I was wondering if I was allowed to open carry at a PA state forest while hiking. I understand that a state park you need to have a LCTF and carry concealed but I just cant seem to find anything definite on a state forest.

I'm not sure about rules specifically for state forests, but right now ALL open carry requires an LTCF as we're under a "state of emergency".

Ok thanks. I guess I will not be taking my CZ for a walk this weekend.

Furthermore, an oddity in our laws permits you to open carry without a LTCF but you are only permitted to transport your firearm to and from a gun range or gunsmith and probably a gun shop to buy or sell. That precludes a non licensed owner from taking his piece anywhere and open carrying it unless you go there on foot.

State forests have no requirement for how you carry as long as it is lawful. I was OCing in Pincot SF this afternoon while looking for fungus and fiddleheads with my daughter.

But, as mentioned, you do need a LTCF for several reasons:

    1) It is required, even to OC, during a State of Emergency, which we've been in for a couple of years due to opioids in PA, and

    2) You don't need a LTCF to OC in PA. But, unless you meet one othe exempted activities (transporting firearm home, to repair shop, to range, etc.) you need a LTCF to transport it anywhere else. Transporting, even unloaded, to a location to OC is NOT exempt.
Do yourself a favor...get your LTCF.
