300 BLK cycling issue maybe
So I put together a new 300 BLK pistol from PSA. It's an 8.5 inch. I had it out to the range to check the function and sight in scope before I paint it. Anyways shot 4 different supersonic loads got it sighted in easily. shot a couple hundred of those. Before I left I loaded up 5 Hornady Black 208gr subsonic. It will fire 1 round and return to battery without stripping another bullet out. Then obviously a click. Pull and release charging handle, or lock it to the rear and use bolt release and it loads a round then the same again. I've read that barrels less then 9 inches may not cycle without a suppressor with subsonic ammo. Which would be fine as that the plan anyways. In just trying to figure out if its under gassed because of the short barrel does it have enough power to eject a shell but not move far enough back to strip a new bullet out? Otherwise I cant see how it could eject and also go back into battery without taking a bullet with it?

when i was developing loads for my psa pistol some of the sub rounds would do the same thing. fire, eject, not strip another round.
The gas port can reemed open up a bit to increase the gas but you should have a adjustable gas block so it isn't over gassed with supers.
or just find a sub that your pistol likes.
check out 300blktalk.com
any issue with a 300 bo have been talked about endlessly on that web site.
The can will have a big effect on your pistol cycling.

This is a known issue with short barrel subs and no suppressor

Re: 300 BLK cycling issue maybe
I doubt you'd want to open up the gas port enough to reliably run unsuppressed subs because then supers will be over-gassed. Like others said either run it suppressed or get an adjustable gas block.
But overall doesn't seem like any issues besides being undergassed for the given load.

I wont do anything as long as most people think this will go away when I put on the suppressor. I just will shoot supersonic till then.

You can also look into lightening the BCG and/or buffer & spring adjustments. It really depends on how much short of stripping the next round it is.
(Hint, most newer phones have really good slo-mo cameras that you can watch the BCG travel having a friend slo-mo video your shots)
Try some 220gr Remington subsonic rounds, I've had good luck with them.
Finally, if it's brand new, a few good cleanings and break-in will help cycling.

nah, not going to mess with it for now. If I have problems with it after suppressed Then I'll figure it out.

Re: 300 BLK cycling issue maybe
Had it out to the range again today. Got some really good groups. Cant figure out how to post a pic but with the Sig Elite 147gr I had 8 round group about 1.5 inches. The precision brand reman ammo about 4" 10 round group. I'm sure the gun is capable of more but it would look pretty sill with a scope longer then the barrel.

i used psa parts and an upper to assemble my 8.5" 300blk rifle, no issues with subs, can or no can though i use 220 bullets for my subsonic loads @900ft/sec.
i did load up some 150 grain supersonics, which i didn't like, just felt like the gun was taking a beating.it's only metal, we can out think it....
