When I got there there were 5-6 cops hanging out st the metal detectors and as soon as I walked in one immediately asked if I was there for a permit. He then asked if I had my application, drivers license and $20. I took this as a courtesy so I wouldn't be waiting if I didn't have everything. I think they only let 2 people in the sheriffs office so I waited in the lobby 5-10 min then they called me and a cop escorted me to the sheriffs office. I went to the counter and gave them everything, sat down about 5 min, got my picture taken, and in another 5 min had my card in hand There was one guy waiting when I got there and one came in as I was leaving so it seems like they are pretty steady. They will not answer the phone if you call though.
I was there at 10 am.
So, was the Sheriffs office in the old courthouse where it used to be, or in the new building?
There’s no way they will be able to ID me from today. I was only maybe 10’ inside the building. Never got within 30’ of any of the lazy bastards.
I suppose there might be video, but lazy people are sort of lazy!

It was the Bucks County Justice Center, 100 North Main Street and is right across the street from the round building. It is not obvious driving by and I passed it and had to turn around. I parked on the street somewhere but the meters are free now. I went in the main street entrance and the door was wide open. There was a big lobby and a bunch of metal detectors to get screened before you got any further. There were at least 5-6 cops there yesterday at 11 so it is strange there was only 2 when you got there. One cop escorted everyone down to the sheriffs office so maybe that was the problem. I assume they need a certain number of guards at all times and didn't want to bother calling another. Was anyone seated in the lobby? If so they were probably in line waiting for the sheriff.

I know this was a PITA for you but if your LTCF doesn't expire for another two months relax, you have plenty of time. There are lots of people (like me) that have expired permits (that is when you start sweating). Sure they were extended but for now the extension will expire at the end of the month so there will be a desperate rush for the next few weeks. Save those spots for the people who need then and don't worry about renewing 2 months early.

Interesting security procedures at court houses. They are all different. Before the Covid thing I went to the court house in my county and no one was there to operate the metal detector, no security nothing. My county employs one security guard unarmed. No one there so I went in and conducted my business. On the way out the security guy returned and asked how I got it. Told him I walked. He got mad and told me when no security person is there I am supposed to wait until he returns. With no sign how was I supposed to know. So if I want to sneak a gun into the courthouse I am summarizing that I must wait to get screened? Grim reminder of the libtard thinking in this country. Sort of like the mayor of Chicago asking people not to shoot each other during the pandemic and actually believing they would listen to her.

See, this is th3 problem with equating your situation with anyone’s else’s , especially remotely as in an Internet forum. While , yes yours is expired and the ‘illegal’ extension s about to expire, yours is still ok for six months, in PA, if you do not leave the state armed. That is in the law!
My situation, and not knowing me personally, you have no clue, is vastly different. I work the entire East Coast, and occasionally out west and down south. Other states do not give a 6 month grace period after expiration, as provided to Pa residents IN PA by law. While you can ride around PA safely on an expired LTCF, I can get really jacked up outside of PA the day after it expires.
Yes, as stated mine expires in July. Will I be here? Serious question there? I’m hoping you can tell me. I have no clue, and no-one at my company knows. I need to handle all of my issues NOW, not tomorrow when I may be four states away and unable to return for three months. I work 80+ hours a week on hospital oxygen systems. I’m out on medical leave right now, but that ends soon. I NEED to handle it now!
Hopefully, you can understand I’m not angry, but a minor inconvenience to you, might be a potential life-wrecker for the next guy in line!

Wrong. No state law says expired is ok. Its a defense for accidentally forgetting to renew. You know for in court after your arrest.

My advice, leave the gun, take the cannoli.

agreed. i'm thinking of setting up a bell sound for when the posts are in really bad taste. call it the "inappropriate bell", or something, just to lighten shit up. infighting will get us nowhere.

Ok, I’ll concede that you are correct on that. Because, you are. But, that does me no good when I get jammed up in Ohio with an expired LTCF

Yes. I believe I made this point over in the sheriff thread. I also point out Philly and I will add the burg of pitts and any number of police departments run by democrats. The ice is thinner than Wolf's integrity.
