Default Got a lot of looks and gawkers OCing a rifle today

Had my 10/22 slung across my back while riding my motorcycle to the range today. Within 30 seconds of leaving my driveway, there were a couple of excited younger fellas in a Buick who got into the passing lane, crept up next to me, and took pictures or possibly video of me before passing and going on their way.

Caught several other folks staring at me in traffic along the way. No police interactions, though I was honestly prepared to be stopped.

Lesson learned: a rifle on your back works way better than loud pipes or hi-viz gear if you want to be noticed on your bike in traffic!

I wouldnt mind seeing anyone open carrying a long gun, on foot or motorcycle. An armed society is a free one.

Best one I saw was at a board shoot where a member showed up on his cycle and had his teenage son on back with the shotgun, muzzle up. Very Mad Max-like.

As long as the weather is good on June 8th, I'll be riding my Valkyrie with my AR up front through the streets of Harrisburg.

How does carrying a rifle like this on a motorcycle work?? Not like physically, but the laws around it. I always assumed that you had to have the gun separate from the ammo and not physically on you other than a handgun of course. I understand the gun probably wasn't loaded, but it was still physically on you.
I need a better signature than this...

A closed ammo pouch (think AR with a mag pouch on the buttstock) that Velcro’s closed is a separate container.

As would say, a closed cargo pocket, saddle Bag, or so on.

In my case the ammo was in a locked hard sided luggage case mounted to the bike.

Not that it needed to be locked - just stored separately.

You can openly carry a loaded rifle on foot if you wanted (with caveats.. just talking about in general). It only must be unloaded in a vehicle.

So unloaded rifle slung on a motorcycle with ammo in a backpack or saddle bag works. Or just use an AR pistol and do whatever you want (with LTCF).

Legally correct, but my hard cases latch closed by being locked.
