If its not a game animal it's protected, therefore can't shoot them.

at least that is what I was lead to believe

I dunno and it doesn't say anything in the digest - I'll email the PGC
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

I always believed they were not a protected species in PA since we are at the edge of their home range. Not even really sure why would would need to shoot one.

Porcupines are protected just about every where they live. Interesting fact about porcupines, they are the only meat you do not have to cook should you have to eat one for survival.

This is its self makes them a very special animal.

Porcupines are protected in PA UNLESS they are damaging your property. Contact the PGC if you have property damage and speak with a WCO about how to proceed.

Filet mignon will be a lot cheaper than porcupine if cited for an unlawful kill. I'd go for the beef ! LOL

I'd rather have squirrel or rabbit. I'd have to be pretty damn desperate to even attempt to skin and then eat raw meat from a porcupine...
