I picked up one of these https://harborfreight.com/lawn-garde...ger-68750.html and one of these. https://harborfreight.com/lawn-garde...tor-96728.html with a Lawn tractor battery in a Pelican Ammo can. The solar cell is heavier than I thought it would be, but it's portable and fits well in the Jeep. this system is working well so far.

Just remember that your car is a great source of power if the grid is down. A good car battery can charge a phone or tablet several dozen times and still start the car. The car will charge the battery back to full in an hour or less, provided you keep the lights, HVAC and radio off, using about 1 gallon of fuel. Keep your tank above 1/2 full and you should have plenty of reserve portable electronics power for many days. You could also get a cheap inverter for laptops or TVs and run them off the car battery. If you have two cars, or tractors, boats, ATVs you have multiple batteries you can drain and leave one fully charged and in the car in case you need to leave quickly. If you get a big enough inverter you can even keep a fridge or freezer cold for a while by giving it a cool down off the (running) car a few times a day.
