Any PA State Troopers here?
I'm thinking about trying to get into the PA State Police. Right now, I live in Japan. I'll be here for a while longer. Another nine months at least. Anyway, while I'm here I wanted to read up and study things that would be learned at the academy. Could anyone suggest books to buy or things to study?
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Any PA State Troopers here?
eh I got their booklet I am scheduled to take the test in a week. That booklet was not all that helpful just tells you how to read and understand the questions. Not really what to study or anything. I'll let you know more about it after I take the test on Nov 8th

Rendell just delayed the start of the next class. Are they still testng in Nov? I thought that was delayed as well. My friend was to start the Academy in Nov., but now it is after the start of the new year.
You can apply online at http://www.patrooper.com/ $50,000 a year to start.
Be safe.

Yeah, I'm in Japan right now so I can't apply. I have free time so I wanted to study up on whatever I could.
1shot, are you doing the first part (written exam) next week? Definitely keep me posted about that.

Re: Any PA State Troopers here?
There may be books on becoming a municipal officer and testing. Lacking anything more specific, study these. They will get you to think like a cop. It is a step in the right direction.
Then know the differences in State Troopers vs. local enforcement etc. Duties, jurisdictions etc. if you can find some general info.
Hope this helps get you started. It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

Thanks for the info. Would learning the constitution by memory be useful? Are there any specific book titles that may work well?
