I cheat, that’s a tweaked Savage with a Leupold bullet drop compensated scope, with the dial specifically made for that Hornady round, chrono’d out of that rifle (thank you Poofa gunsmith Les Shaeffer). The very first shot out of that rifle was a kill at 268 yards, and it’s only gotten better. It will reach out to well over 350-400 yards if you can get the wind right. Just takes a little practice!

Thanks, I love them too. I have a second Savage 17R93 I built on another Boyd’s thumb hole in forest camo laminate. It is just as accurate, but it doesn’t reach out like this one does.

15 with precision lead placement, 1 with the tractor so far post cut #1. There have been some other folks hunting the field that I don't know their counts. I tend to keep my shots < 300 yds with the .223 , if I'm using my .22 then I'm about 75 yds max.

Clover is getting high enough I can't see them walking so I have to wait for them to stand.

I'm only shooting them after they're trapped, I can't shoot them while they're on the loose here but I just use copper plated .22L hollow points.

Fiocchi 38 grain subsonic works the best through my Savage Mark II. The CCI Quiet with the segmented hollowpoint will work but the drop is pretty bad that far out. I generally save the CCI for closer shots around the barn yard not to spook the hoofed critters. I guess I should of said I'm running them through my suppressor, that's why the subsonics.
