Default Ruger LCP with +P ammo

Well, I seemed to have accidentally ordered +P JHP. You can't return ammo as far as I know. I haven't tested it yet to see if they will feed/shoot okay. Assuming they feed and shoot okay, am I risking damaging anything? I'm not going to be firing 100's of rounds of it at the range, just a clip or two.

Is there such a thing as +P for .380? I thought it was just for .38 special. (never mind, I just looked it up and there is indeed .380 +P)

There have been numerous threads already about LCPs breaking, so I'd consult the manual or Ruger's site for advice on hot ammo.

I shoot only Magsafes out of mine, those are even hotter than +p ammo, no problem except the cases Bulge at the point where the case is unsupported at the witness hole in the chamber.

Last I checked there is no SAAMI spec for .380 +P. IIRC the SAAMI spec for .380 is around 21,500psi.

not sure about the LCP, but the manual for the kel-tec p3at (about 95% the same design of the LCP) says that the gun WILL cycle +p but not with continuous use.

    from manual:
    "
    SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS
AMMUNITION: The P-3AT Pistol is designed and chambered for the .380 Auto
cartridge. Do not use any other ammuntion. The P-3AT will accept +P
ammuntion, however not with continuous use.

I didnt think there was +p in a .380? i just use 102gr Remington Golden Sabers in my LCP and they work great, plus they were the heaviest round for the .380 i could find.

I don't know if it is safe or not. But, I can assure you that it won't be fun! I had a Kel-Tec P3AT. Standard pressure ammo in that pistol gave me a sore hand after a few mags.

Back when the LCP first came out I remember someone emailed Ruger and asked them. They came back and said its fine to shoot them just not all the time. If its just carry ammo it should be fine. I just carry Hydrashocks because I havn't seen any +p in stores.

I'm second guessing myself now. I ordered .45 and .380 together, so I could have possibly been looking at the .45 box. I'll have to check tonight.

The Magsafe, is a 60 grain bullet travelling at 1600 fps according to Magsafe.

You should see what it does to 1 gallon plastic water jugs.

However Magsafe has in big Block Writing on the Packaging , "NOT FOR KELTEC"

Pactically no recoil from the Magsafes, but like all Magsafe ammo shey shoot low , so aim high.
