    I've heard something similar, here's what I found:

    According to*the*folk remedy, if you come down with*a*cold or*the*flu, all you have to do is slice*a*red or white*onion*into rounds, place them on*the*bottoms of*your feet, and put on*a*pair of socks. Leave*the*socks on overnight as you sleep. In*the*morning, you'll wake up cured of*your*illness.

    There is a smell you catch now and then for a day or 2 ….
    and then gone …. no smell
    My buddy was sitting right next to one and couldn't smell it but claimed that was why he wouldn't do it
    the smell makes me think … we're eating hotdogs
    but its brief and you get 2 to 3 months before have to replace them
    and hey … when youre sick and your nose is all crapped up and what not ….. you cant smell then anyhow so whats the diff?

    when looking for it … I did see a mention of the feet …. but I dunno nothing bout that

    I knew a guy who ate garlic all the time … said it was for health
    don't know if it worked or not …. and the guy was a sweater
