Identity of man who jumped into police car still unknown
Wednesday, October 22, 2008
By Jim McKinnon, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
A mysterious suspect is in custody in a hospital, but authorities still don't know his name.
Allegheny County Sheriff's Lt. Jack Kearney said the man is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing tomorrow before District Judge Robert Dzvonick on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
The case began at about 11 p.m. Oct. 13 when the county 911 center dispatched Millvale police to a call for a man who appeared inebriated walking along Route 28 northbound near the 40th Street Bridge.
An officer pulled next to the man and rolled down the window to make an inquiry.
Instead of talking, the man dove into the police car through the open window.
He was screaming unintelligibly, and he punched the officer's laptop computer screen, breaking it.
The officer zapped the suspect with a Taser, but it had no effect and backup was summoned, Lt. Kearney said.
The suspect was taken to the county jail for processing, including fingerprinting, which failed to reveal his identity, Lt. Kearney said.
Authorities still are awaiting feedback from national searches of criminal records.
Since his arrest, the suspect came down with an unknown or undisclosed illness, and he has been hospitalized under guard.
He is described as a white man in his mid-to-late 30s with brown hair and green eyes.
He is 5-feet, 7-inches tall.
The only thing close to identification is a tattoo drawn across his back that reads, "Vericus."
Lt. Kearney said the man did not smell of alcohol, though he appeared intoxicated.
Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to call the county sheriff's office at 412-350-4714.

Re: Zombie's first front
Maybe it's time to start thinkin' about a meeting place, so we can stockpile ammo, food, and get our strategies down. Maybe best to divide the state into three sections.....eastern, central, and western. All different sections decide on a place to gather, and after wiping out our "undead nemisis'" in each section, we pick a centralized meeting location to re-group, and prepare for the future.
