Just back from Target Master in SEPA. Needed to get a ticket and give phone number to guy at door then go sit in car for about an hour and a half awaiting a call to enter the store. Had 5.56 $350.00 for case of 500. Had .223 500/case for $250.00 I think 55 grain and also .223 77 grain 200/case for $189. Damn near a dollar a round. Had .22LR, too but didn't note price.

I believe the forum consensus is to keep a minimum of a life time supply on hand.

Not to count what you would need for emergencies, such as the boogaloo, or other contingencies.
Now that's the best answer I have ever heard.

I have a rule that I ALWAYS buy 2 rounds of ammo for every round I shoot. I have followed this rule since 1968. I have fired many thousands of rounds since then. I followed the same rule when re-loading. I have a lot of ammo. To answer the question: Buy whatever you can easily afford...if you have to sell it in the future, you will probably get back most,if not all, of what you spent.

I'm a data whore, so I can safely say that based on past consumption, no ammo I have is in less than a 4 year supply here.

I can only assume that was not intended sarcastically and will generously help you in your time of need. No take backs

If you don't have enough, I would buy what you need to give you some peace of mind. Cost is irrelevant if you have nothing to protect yourself with. Better to have...at any cost, than to need it...and not have any opportunity to get your hands on it.
