Lockdowns had little or no impact on COVID-19 deaths, new study shows
By Dave Boyer - The Washington Times - Monday, January 31, 2022
    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...id-19-deaths-/

Lockdowns in the U.S. and Europe had little or no impact in reducing deaths from COVID-19, according to a new analysis by researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

The lockdowns during the early phase of the pandemic in 2020 reduced COVID mortality by about 0.2%, found the broad review of multiple scientific studies.

*We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,* the researchers wrote.

But the research paper said lockdowns did have *devastating effects* on the economy and contributed to numerous social ills.

*They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy,* the report said.

*Such a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion: lockdowns should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument,* the paper concluded.

Early on, many states and 186 countries imposed bans on work, socialization, in-person schooling, travel and other restrictions to limit the spread of the disease, citing recommendations by top health experts.

Researchers at the Imperial College London, for example, predicted that such steps could reduce death rates by up to 98%.

That never happened, according to the new study by researchers Steve Hanke, Jonas Herby, and Lars Jonung at Johns Hopkins.

*Overall, we conclude that lockdowns are not an effective way of reducing mortality rates during a pandemic, at least not during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic,* they wrote.

They examined deaths early during the pandemic and determined that, by end of the lockdown period studied, on May 20, 2020, a total of 97,081 people had died of COVID-19 in the U.S.

A prominent study at the time had estimated there would be 99,050 deaths without lockdowns.

Mr. Hanke is the founder and co-director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business Enterprise. Mr. Herby is special adviser at Center for Political Studies in Copenhagen, Denmark. Mr. Jonung is professor emeritus in economics at Lund University, Sweden.

They conducted a *meta-analysis* of dozens of studies that examined COVID mortality rates.

Despite the overall findings, they did note some evidence that closing bars helped to reduce deaths.

*Closing non-essential businesses seems to have had some effect (reducing COVID-19 mortality by 10.6%), which is likely to be related to the closure of bars,* they said.

The researchers said the timing of lockdowns, and unintended consequences, may play a larger role than expected in affecting mortality.

*Lockdowns have limited peoples* access to safe (outdoor) places such as beaches, parks, and zoos, or included outdoor mask mandates or strict outdoor gathering restrictions, pushing people to meet at less safe (indoor) places,* they wrote. *Indeed, we do find some evidence that limiting gatherings was counterproductive and increased COVID-19 mortality.*

The truth is ignored in policy matters because CONTROL is the goal.
The lies get promoted because they help foster CONTROL!

Never take your 2A Rights (or any others) for granted. If you don't protect them, others will take them!

It is the goal of the leftist liberals to make RIGHTS BECOME PRIVILEGES and then
restrict those privileges on the basis of necessary control to create Peace & Safety.

Create the CHAOS then promote the CONTROL!

It was Anthony Fauci that ordered the lockdown and quarantining of healthy people knowing it was against every scientific study and practice. The lock downs and quarantines had zero to do with a virus and everything to do about government usurping power.
Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

CDC Withholds Key COVID Data, Citing Fears of Misinterpretation
    By Sandy Fitzgerald - 23 February 2022
    https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/co...23/id/1058159/

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been collecting data for over a year on COVID-19 vaccinations and the use of wastewater reports to track surges in the disease but hasn't released most of the data that it's gathered, claiming the details are being withheld out of fear of their being misinterpreted.

CDC spokesperson Kristen Nordlund told The New York Times that the federal agency has delayed releasing different parts of the information it has gathered because "at the end of the day, it's not yet ready for prime time," and because the CDC's "priority when gathering any data is to ensure that it*s accurate and actionable."

She also confirmed that the agency believed that such data could be misunderstood, reports the newspaper.

For example, two weeks ago, the CDC's report on the effectiveness of booster shots for adults under the age of 65 left out numbers for people ages 18 to 49, or the group deemed not as likely to benefit from another shot after their first two doses had left them protected against COVID-19.

In another report, the agency debuted information about wastewater data to be updated daily that could show early signs of a COVID surge. However, some states and localities had shared that information with the CDC since the pandemic's beginnings, but this is the first time the agency has released the findings.

Several people familiar with the withheld data said only a small portion of what has been gathered has been published, despite how its use could help local and state public health officials target efforts against the virus.

According to the experts, full information on hospitalizations and death, including by age and vaccination status, could have helped better determine if booster shots were needed for healthy adults, and the wastewater information could have helped spot variants and outbreaks earlier.

The agency finally posted the information about boosters for 18-49-year-olds after several inquiries from the Times, but without that information being made readily available, outside experts instead relied on numbers from Israel for recommendations.

"We want better, faster data that can lead to decision-making and actions at all levels of public health, that can help us eliminate the lag in data that has held us back," Dr. Daniel Jernigan, the agency's deputy director for public health science and surveillance, said.

Jernigan added the pandemic showed how the CDC's data systems and those at state levels are out of date and can't handle large volumes of information.

Bureaucracy may also be at play, as the CDC has several divisions that must sign off before important publications are released, and officials must first alert the White House and the Department of Health and Human Services of the plan, the Times reported.

Further, the agency shares its data with states and its partners before going public with it, in many cases, which also delays its release.

"The steps that it takes to get something like this released are often well outside of the control of many of the scientists that work at the CDC," Samuel Scarpino, managing director of pathogen surveillance at the Rockefeller Foundation's Pandemic Prevention Institute, commented. "The CDC is a political organization as much as it is a public health organization."

The agency has been criticized several times during the pandemic, including last year when it failed to track breakthrough infections in vaccinated Americans in favor of a focus on people who became ill enough to die or to be hospitalized.

That information was then used to make risk comparisons with adults who were not vaccinated, rather than to give information of hospitalized people based on age, sex, race, and whether they'd been vaccinated.

Nordlund also confirmed that the gathered data represents just one-tenth of the United States population, but the Times noted that the agency uses the same sampling data numbers to track influenza infections.

Epidemiologist Jessica Malaty Rivera, part of the team that ran the independent COVID Tracking Project until March 2021, said such detailed data had been needed, as it "builds public trust, and it paints a much clearer picture of what's actually going on."

She also dismissed the CDC's reasoning that the data could be misinterpreted for not releasing it.

"We are at a much greater risk of misinterpreting the data with data vacuums than sharing the data with proper science, communication, and caveats," she said.
Big Government, Big Mainstream Media and Big Tech Social Media have been complicit in this distortion of the data from the very beginning. Withholding information, lying about the data, telling half-truths, creating mandates against our freedoms based on lies, has been the Choice De Jour. Making lies out of whole cloth ignorance in order to implement control over the citizens has been honed during this PANIC.

A Free People rely on truthfulness of information to make their individual decisions. The corrupting nature of these widespread distortions & lies is a direct attack on the ability of The People to make sound decisions. It is intended to force The People to rely on the government and media to make all decisions for their lives.

The processes and justifications established during this UNPRECENDENTED ATTACK ON OUR RIGHTS will be used as again and again in the future. On whatever issue (like gun control) they believe they can dupe The People, this present PANIC will provide a playbook for DENYING THE RIGHTS OF A ONCE-FREE PEOPLE.

Look at the destruction of the American economy, society, hopes & dreams that just one year of outlandish leftist liberal policies have inflicted. The pace of destruction will continue to increase as more and more people give up their privacy and freedoms by being dependent on Big Government & Big Tech services.

    It's almost unbearable to witness...!!!

Here's one more case that shows the POWER GRAB associated with the Coronavirus PANIC and the Masking Hysteria...

Father facing jail for going maskless to son's baseball game cleared of charges
    by Luke Gentile - March 08, 2022
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...red-of-charges

A father in Rochester, New York, who faced up to 90 days in prison for going maskless to his son's outdoor baseball game has been cleared of all charges.

Chad Hummel, an attorney, was arrested in the spring of 2021 and charged with criminal trespassing after he did not wear a face covering to his child's baseball game, according to a report.

Last week, he was acquitted of all charges following a bench trial before Judge Joseph Valentino.

"The Trespass charge arose from an incident where Hummel was standing alone in a field, hundreds of feet from anyone, maskless, when he was approached by security guard employed by the Irondequoit Chief of Police, Alan Laird's private security company in Town," a statement provided by Hummel read.

"The plain–clothes guard ordered Hummel to leave his son's baseball game despite the Executive Order at the time that did not require outdoor masking. There was even a sign on the Stadium entrance that stated masks were optional when 6 feet apart. Mr. Hummel stood his ground and the police arrived, handcuffed him and took him to jail."

The father intends to sue the district that banned him from its property and threatened to keep him away from his child's graduation, the report noted.

"Mr. Hummel is pleased with the verdict and he is thankful for the Court's thoughtful legal Decision," the statement read.

The statement suggested that "untrue testimony under oath" was given by witnesses for the prosecution.

"Hummel cannot elaborate on their identity or the nature of the untrue testimony as he prepares for the civil lawsuit to come and believes that the civil litigation is the appropriate forum for that truth to come out," the statement read.

The father has previously stated that he would require a full public apology and a series of resignations for him not to follow through on a civil rights lawsuit, according to the report.
I hope he forces those, who insist on irresponsibly wielding the power with which they were trusted, out of office along with a monetary penalty.

Flu Vaccine Ineffective Against This Season's Variants: Study
    Friday, 11 March 2022 11:08 AM
    https://www.newsmax.com/health/healt...11/id/1060767/

This season's flu shot offered virtually no protection against infection, a new government report shows.

While this latest vaccine only cut the risk of getting a mild case of flu by 16%, the agency has noted that flu vaccines typically reduce the risk of illness by 40% to 60%.

Still, the shot should offer some protection against more severe illness, according to the study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

But the findings mean the flu vaccine was "essentially ineffective," Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious diseases expert at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., told NBC News.

The CDC study, which included data on over 3,600 Americans in seven states, confirmed research released earlier in the flu season that the dominant variants is H3N2, which is particularly challenging to guard against because it tends to mutate faster than other flu variants and often results in more hospitalizations and deaths, according to experts.

In October and November of 2021, the CDC investigated a flu outbreak at the University of Michigan and found that the vaccine did not offer much protection.

Despite the vaccine's meager level of protection, this flu season has been the second in a row to show low overall case counts. That may be because the surge of the omicron variant in December and January had people wearing masks and practicing social distancing, thereby preventing the spread of the flu, Schaffner suggested.

He added that the latest CDC study highlights the need for better flu vaccines because "the flu is not going away. ... It will be back again next year and the year after that and the year after that."

Not only that, even a mild flu season can be deadly: The CDC has estimated that during the 2019-20 flu season, around 22,000 people in the country died and 400,000 were hospitalized.

A number of vaccine makers including Pfizer and Moderna, are trying to develop flu vaccines using mRNA technology, the same approach used to create some COVID-19 vaccines. But those vaccines likely won't be ready until late 2023, NBC News reported.
"Despite the vaccine's meager level of protection, this flu season has been the second in a row to show low overall case counts. That may be because the surge of the omicron variant in December and January had people wearing masks and practicing social distancing, thereby preventing the spread of the flu, Schaffner suggested."

Or MAYBE -- The Coronavirus Panic incorrectly assigned those cases to magnify the need for Panic. As demonstrated by their actions, the leftist liberals are still clinging to the Vaccine and Mask Mandates to demontrate their LUST FOR CONTROL...

FREEDOM is slipping away as the general populace is willing to continue to tolerate these UNCONSTITUTIONAL controls - either out of the engendered PANIC & FEAR or out of laziness to fight for Freedom wherever it is violated.

Reported pediatric COVID-19 deaths plummet 24% after CDC fixes 'coding logic error'
    by Andrew Kerr - March 18, 2022
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...ng-logic-error

After CDC resolved the error, the pediatric death figure reported on its COVID Data Tracker dropped to 1,339 all-time deaths, a reduction of 23.7% from the figure reported the day prior.

"On March 15, 2022, data on deaths were adjusted after resolving a coding logic error. This resulted in decreased death counts across all demographic categories," the data tracker said.

The CDC did not return multiple requests for comment.

Prior to the fix, the CDC's data had been used as the basis for articles published late last week by the Guardian and the New York Post that reported as many as a third of all child deaths from COVID-19 had occurred since the beginning of 2022 amid the omicron surge.

"Children seem to be facing increasing risks as mask mandates are abandoned and vaccination rates stall," the Guardian reported.

The article received a substantial amendment late Thursday after the reporter behind the piece deleted multiple tweets citing the CDC.

The article now cites data from the CDC's weekly provisional data on COVID-19 deaths, which is based on death certificate data and states that 921 children ages 0 to 17 had deaths "involving COVID-19" since the start of the pandemic, a figure significantly smaller than the figure reported by the CDC's COVID Data Tracker.

The CDC came under fire for its lack of transparency surrounding COVID-19 data in late February after the New York Times reported that the agency had published only a small portion of the data it had collected on hospitalizations, vaccines, and wastewater analysis in part because it feared the information might have been misinterpreted by the public.

Sen. Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, railed against the CDC in a March 1 letter for its "disturbing and shameful" lack of transparency surrounding COVID-19 data.

"In the midst of a pandemic, it is unacceptable that CDC would withhold relevant data on COVID-19 that could inform the public and potentially save lives," Johnson wrote to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

"Throughout the pandemic, CDC and other health agencies have promoted inconsistent policies and recommendations regarding COVID-19," Johnson said. "Many Americans who voiced concerns about these policies have been subjected to ridicule, vilification, and censorship from the press."

"Rather than provide the public with complete access to relevant data to justify its COVID-19 policies, the Biden Administration has apparently favored censorship over transparency," Johnson added.

More proof that those who resisted relying on the government to properly address the Coronavirus Panic were right. The government's demand for obedience, as though they were god-like righteous, was actually built on incompetence, inaccuracies and outright lies.

Instead of the PUBLIC misinterpreting the data, the CDC ACTUALLY MISREPRESENTED THE DATA and demanded that society should act according to their ignorant lies.
