Wolf reinstates mask mandate for Pa. state employees, contracted staff

HARRISBURG * Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is reinstating a mask mandate for all state employees and contracted staff working under his jurisdiction regardless of their vaccination status, starting on Monday.

State employees were notified on Friday about this change in policy that comes as cases of COVID-19 infections are on the rise.

In a memo to employees, the administration cites the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention*s recommendation for everyone in areas with high or substantial transmission to wear a mask in public indoor settings.

"With nearly all Pennsylvania counties now with high or substantial levels of COVID-19 in their communities, the commonwealth will be re-instating measures to reduce potential spread in our workplaces," the memo said.

Wearing masks, however, will remain optional for visitors to state office buildings, the memo states.

The administration lifted its mask mandate on June 28 for most commonwealth employees unless they worked in health care settings and correctional facilities where they have been required to comply with the Centers for Disease Control recommendations, he said.

Earlier this month, Mr. Wolf said Pennsylvania state workers who are employed in health care facilities or other "high-risk" settings will be required to get vaccinated or be tested weekly for COVID-19. The requirement covers 25,000 state employees, including those working in state hospitals, state homes for people with intellectual disabilities, veterans homes, community health centers and state correction institutions.

Study: Vaccine Protection Wanes Within 6 Months

Protection from two doses of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines wanes within less than six months, according to a study of phone app data Wednesday, suggesting that booster shots may be needed to ensure prolonged coverage.

The latest finding comes as several countries are rolling out additional jabs for the fully vaccinated, a move slammed by the World Health Organization as millions in the world have yet to receive a single dose.

The Pfizer jab was 88% effective a month after the second dose, but protection fell to 74% after five to six months, according to the latest analysis of data from the Zoe Covid Study.

The study uses real-world data gathered via a mobile phone app with over a million active users, who log details on their vaccinations and test results, which is then analysed by researchers including scientists at King's College London. The study drew on more than 1.2 million test results and participants.

Protection from the AstraZeneca vaccine fell from 77% one month after a second dose to 67% after four to five months.

The lead scientist on the Zoe app, Professor Tim Spector, said that more data was needed on how vaccine effectiveness changes in different age groups. U.K. cases grew sharply after social restrictions lifted in July but hospitalisations have been stable for the last month.

But Spector, a professor of genetic epidemiology at King's College London, warned that waning vaccine effectiveness among the most vulnerable could lead to more hospitalisations and deaths by winter. "In my opinion, a reasonable worst-case scenario could see protection below 50% for the elderly and healthcare workers by winter," he said.

If high levels of infection remain, fuelled by the more transmissible delta variant and easing of restrictions, "this scenario could mean increased hospitalisations and deaths", the scientist said. "We urgently need to make plans for vaccine boosters," Spector added. He also said the U.K. needed to decide whether its current focus on vaccinating children was "sensible if our aim is to reduce deaths and hospital admissions".

The latest findings come after another study by University of Oxford scientists published last week found that the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine declines faster than that of AstraZeneca.

The U.K. began vaccinating older or clinically vulnerable people in December last year, so these make up most of the people who have been fully vaccinated for half a year and are now likely to be at increased risk of infection.

who contracts the coronavirus is going to die, as though everyone is THE MOST VULNERABLE!

In the past, with diseases like this, medical doctors would be targeting their treatment of
THE TRULY MOST VULNERABLE at the first sign of the disease, with as many different
medical protocols as possible that provided some benefit and relief. Instead, for political points,
the sufferers now are UNTREATED until they need to be hospitalized.

While other countries around the world have some form of democracy, the United States Constitution still has protections FOR THE PEOPLE that other countries don't have. And, while those protections are regularly violated by all levels of government, the fact we have a FREEDOM BASED PRINCIPLE of governance, with THE PEOPLE at the top of that inverted pyramid, provides continued hope that eventually the WRONG-HEADED violation of Individual Freedom will be corrected.

But, at this point in time, we have an elected administration with the desire and will to destroy the economy, saddle us with insurmountable debt and destroy all good will we might have with world allies.

And that administration is now asking big business & small business to cooperate with them to force (demand for employment) medical procedures on people against their will! With still unknown long-term affects...

Washington school is blasted for making student athletes wear ANKLE MONITORS so they can be alerted if another player tests positive for COVID

Eatonville High School has received backlash after implementing a measure in which student athletes have to wear 'ankle monitors' tracing COVID-19 cases

Parents in social media likened the device to the monitors used by offenders under house arrest. 'Ankle monitors are for criminals not children,' a mother said

While both vaccinated and unvaccinated students and coaches are required to wear the monitor, only unvaccinated individuals are required to quarantine

The school has refused they are using trackers on students and called the devices 'proximity monitors' instead

The monitor is only used during practice and left at the school


A Washington state public high school has been condemned for forcing student athletes to wear ankle bracelets to help with COVID track and tracing efforts. Eatonville High School bought the monitors, made by a company called Triax, for both coaches and students in high-contact and moderate-contact sports. Students who play volleyball, basketball, football and soccer are required by the school to wear the device.

The 'TraceTag' has visual and audible sensors that alert students when they are too close to each other, while also collecting contact-trace data later used to identify which students have had contact with other players who have tested positive for COVID-19. That means it could be used to alert a student if they'd been in close contact with someone who has the virus.

According to the manufacturer's website, the device can be attached to a hat or a helmet or be worn in the body. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated students at Eatonville are currently required to wear the devices, but only unvaccinated students are required to quarantine for 14 days in case of a positive case of COVID-19 detected in the contact-trace data. The device, meant to collect contact-trace data in case of COVID-19 infections, was likened to the ankle monitors used by individuals under house arrest.

But the move sparked widespread anger among parents after it was reported online, with many outraged at the similarity to devices used to track criminals on bail or probation. The black TraceTag - pictured on this information sheet - was affixed to some student athletes' ankles for COVID test and tracing purposes, sparking fury among parents.

But school board director Matt Marshall told The Post Millennial on Wednesday evening that their use had been halted amid the uproar. He said they had been 'shelved the devices until proper procedures including community input and board approval process occur.'

And this action is based on "Maybes & Mights", not actual cases being traced. Fear Mongering is everywhere!

Once again proving that those who have power in our society today, have no shame in violating the freedoms that millions of Patriots have given their lives over the centuries to obtain and protect.

They consider themselves to be MASTERS of the public, rather than PUBLIC SERVANTS. It's critical that we fight this kind of disregard for our rights EVERYWHERE that it occurs and no matter what 'good intentions' were meant. This kind of 'helpfulness' is an insidious corrosion of our Rights & Freedoms.
