    1) I have a perfectly acceptable N95 mask that I use when I have to and I feel like a loser when I wear it. IMO the common sense is comparing using any of these masks to filter out the chirus to using a chain link fence to keep bees out.

Walleye.... I totally agree that nothing short of a SCBA will protect you from inhalation of a virus but(here comes the but) the masks do deflect how far exhaled air will travel so masks cut down on the duration the chirus will be airborne and truthfully, that's the best we got short of nothing else.

You won't hear that from .gov since most people cant handle the truth.

What we have learned is most people have gone along with the bullshit and they have been had in a big way. Masks are useless to stop viruses. The virus is deadly to a very tiny percent of the population and people have had their lives and livelihoods ruined and rights completely tramped. Imagine what this country would be today if at any time in the history of this nation life came to a full stand still because people are made afraid by tyrants.

Well, it just happened, the nation came to a screeching halt and not a damn thing changed with the virus but people are scrambling to regain their lives. Massive unemployment companies, going under, mass fear and panic and not a damn thing has changed with the virus, it is still killing those that it will kill no matter how bad or good the economy is. Governors of blue states are milking this for all that its worth because they are getting free money from the Federal government to make up for their socialist spending policies, teacher's pensions, pocket lining and money for handing out just before a Presidential election and yet not a thing has changed with the virus and it won't change. Fear reigns supreme just as the tyrants would have it.

Jennifer, this is a very thoughtful, reasoned post that lays out very nicely the mess we are currently in. I have copied it and passed it out to some of my doubting friends and family. Thank you.

They are virtue signalling as much as anything else. Proving how noble they are in doing their part in "stopping the spread" and how any one not wearing a mask like they are "is killing people". The only message I get though is that there are two compliant brainwashed idiots, people to avoid. Saw two women out power walking on a trail wearing masks, breathing back in all that carbon dixodie and germs the body was engineered to expel.

Our First Amendment Rights are clearly under attack!

This Memorial Day, when we remember all those who have fallen in the name of Freedom, in all wars both Foreign and Domestic, that very Freedom they lost their lives defending and promoting, is, at this very moment, being assaulted by those in our present government institutions!

9th Circuit Court upholds California ban on in-person church services
    By - Associated Press - Sunday, May 24, 2020

SAN FRANCISCO — An appeals court has upheld California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s ban on in-person church services amid the coronavirus pandemic, in a split ruling that found that government’s emergency powers override what in normal times would be fundamental constitutional rights.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday that the South Bay United Pentecostal Church in San Diego cannot reopen immediately, the Los Angeles Times reported. In this case “constitutional standards that would normally govern our review of a Free Exercise claim should not be applied,” the two judges in the majority wrote in their order.

“We’re dealing here with a highly contagious and often fatal disease for which there presently is no known cure. In the words of Justice Robert Jackson, if a ‘(c)ourt does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact,’” they wrote.

The decision is likely to further anger opponents who claim that California’s rules to stop the spread of the virus violate religious freedoms.

President Donald Trump on Friday labeled churches and other houses of worship as ” essential ” and called on governors nationwide to let them reopen this weekend even though some areas remain under coronavirus lockdown.

The president threatened to “override” governors who defy him, but it was unclear what authority he has to do so.

The ruling came the same week pastors vowed to hold in-person services May 31, Pentecost Sunday, defying a state moratorium on religious gatherings imposed by the governor, the Times reported.

In a letter to Newsom, Robert H. Tyler, an attorney representing a Lodi church that has challenged the governor’s order in court, said more than 1,200 pastors have signed a “Declaration of Essentiality,” asserting their churches are as essential as any grocery or hardware store and should be allowed to reopen.

Last week, many counties in California had received approval to reopen businesses including retail shops and restaurants as permitted in the second phase of Newsom’s plan to restart the state economy. Churches are not allowed to reopen until the plan’s third phase.

Trump-appointed Judge Daniel Collins dissented, writing “the State’s position on this score illogically assumes that the very same people who cannot be trusted to follow the rules at their place of worship can be trusted to do so at their workplace,” according to the newspaper.

Newsom has vowed to provide plans on reopening churches Monday. Some churches that have opened without authorization have been sources for spreading the coronavirus, including in Butte, Mendocino and Lake counties, according to the Times.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.

There should have been thousands of patriotic citizens surrounding every state capitol when the edicts started. To combat the governmental destruction of the U.S. and State Constitutions will require THE PEOPLE to stand up and DEMAND their RIGHTS, PEACEFULLY but FORCEFULLY.

President Trump should have already had the DOJ make a case to the U.S. Supreme Court holding these states in violation of the Constitution. However, as I have mentioned in the past, the USSC has failed in many, many ways to protect THE PEOPLE from the government.

When our representative government REFUSES to represent the interests of THE PEOPLE, IT MUST BE OVERTURNED at the ballot box.

What if the government has it all wrong about COVID-19?
What if the government wants to stoke fear in Americans because mass fear produces mass compliance?
    By Andrew P. Napolitano - - Wednesday, May 20, 2020

    ANALYSIS/OPINION:

What if the government has it wrong — on the medicine and the law?

What if face masks can’t stop the COVID-19 virus? What if quarantining the healthy makes no medical sense? What if staying at home for months reduces immunity?

What if more people have been infected with the virus in their homes than outside them?

What if there are as many credible scientists and physicians who disagree with the government as those who agree with it? What if the government chooses to listen only to scientists and physicians who would tell it what it wanted to hear? What if the government silences scientists and physicians, and even fires one, who attempt to tell it what it didn’t want to hear?

What if the government wants to stoke fear in the populace because mass fear produces mass compliance? What if individual fear reduces individual immunity?

What if a healthy immunity gets stronger when challenged? What if a pampered immunity gets weaker when challenged? What if we all pass germs and viruses — that we don’t even know we have — onto others all the time, but their immune systems repel what we pass on to them?

What if the COVID-19 virus has run its course and run into natural immunities? What if many folks have had symptom-free episodes with many viruses and are now immune from them? What if the government refuses to understand this because it undermines the government’s power to control us?

What if government orders to nursing homes and assisted-living facilities to accept the sick and contagious are insane? What if the same government that micromanages nursing homes and assisted living facilities knows that they are not hospitals and are not equipped to cure the sick or contain contagion?

What if the government makes health care decisions not on the basis of medicine or human nature but statistics? What if reliance on the government’s statistics has made many folks sick?

What if we’d all be healthier and happier if we make our own choices with our own physicians rather than the government making choices for us? What if it is un-American for the government to tell you how to care for yourself? What if it is equally un-American for you to follow the government when it intrudes into your personal choices?

What if the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled many times that your health care decisions are private, personal and to be made between you and your physician? What if the Supreme Court has also ruled many times that your private health care decisions are none of the government’s business?

What if we never elected a government to keep us free from all viruses, but we did elect it to keep us free from all tyrants? What if the government — which can’t deliver the mail, fill potholes, stop robocalls, or spend within its income — is the last entity on Earth into whose hands we would voluntarily repose our health for safekeeping? What if the government won’t admit that its understanding of science is colored by politics?

What if the government has misunderstood its mandate? What if the government thinks it can do its job by keeping us safe but unfree? What if … according to the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence — government’s first duty is to safeguard our rights? What if there is no legal basis for the government to keep us at home or to close our businesses?

What if the government gave itself the power to interfere with our personal choices? What if that self-imposed power violates the basic constitutional principle that the government derives its powers from the consent of the governed? What if no one consented to a government that interferes with our personal choices? What if our personal choices to take personal chances have never needed a government permission slip?

What if the Constitution was written to restrain the government? What if all in government — local, state and federal — have taken an oath to uphold and What if the government decrees that liquor sales are essential but clothing sales are not? What if the government decrees that abortions are essential but orthopedic surgery is not? What if the government decrees that music stores are essential but the free exercise of religion is not?

What if these decisions about what is essential and inessential are for individuals — and not for the government — to make?

What if to the barber or short-order cook or retail-sales person in a barbershop and a luncheonette and a clothing store are essential? What if to those who love God, the free exercise of religion is essential?

What if the government makes essential whatever serves its friends, enhances its wealth, maintains its stability and removes obstacles to its exercise of power? What if the Constitution — with its protections of our rights to make free choices — is an intentional obstacle to governmental power?

What if America’s Founders and the Constitution’s Framers chose liberty over safety? What if the government doesn’t like that choice? What if the government only nominally endorses it?

What if — when the pandemic is over — the government remains tyrannical? What if — when the pandemic is over — folks sue the government for its destruction of life, liberty and property only to learn that the government gave itself immunity from such lawsuits? What if — when the pandemic is over — the government refuses to acknowledge its end?

What if — as Thomas Jefferson said — the blood of patriots should be spilled on the tree of revolution at least once in every generation? What if we nullify the government that has nullified our rights?

Which proves what? With a two week incubation, anyone sick today was infected many days ago, while NC was in lockdown. Dare county is sparsely populated off season so I imagine there wouldn’t be much spread there before this weekend. SoundS like the truth will reveal itself in a few weeks after those infected at the beach this weekend return home, get sick and spread it in their communities. Once they trace the source of infection we will know.

I believe you have the right to do whatever you want, including licking public toilet seats. I just don’t believe that the govt being wrong in its reaction so far means there is nothing to worry about.

The treatment has now officially become more detrimental than the disease.
