Re: Baofeng UV5army
I'm a rookie myself but I'd be willing to give it a shot. I do mine but I make no guarantees and you might drive here for nothing. No need to offer the beer though. What programming are you looking for?

Re: Baofeng UV5army
I didn’t order the cable yet. I guess I’ll just program my channels manually. The only ones I’d need chirp for are the weather channels but I have them on my cb. I bought 2 so figure plugging into a computer would save time and effort, not sure how much work is required using the app anyway.

Re: Baofeng UV5army
Mirkit Radio Baofeng UV-5R MK5 8W MP Max Power 2020 1800 mAh Li-Ion Battery Pack, Baofengradio corp.
$55.75 (Prime)
This is not a good price.
go to radioddity.com or click on the link below for better prices, usually with $10.00 off if you give and email addy.
https://www.radioddity.com/collectio...rice-ascending
it looks like they have the same radio listed for $29.99
But you have to use their software to bring the UHF freq up from 480.000 to 520.000
Not difficult to do. it give direction on the site. https://www.radioddity.com/collectio...-two-way-radio
for those who want to listen in on local air traffic, police, fire, ems, ect
click on this link below, it will take you to a page on the www.radioreference.com web
https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=42
Click on your state, then scroll down to your county and click on it. scroll down and
the page will show you all the law enforcement, municipal , schools, airport frequencys.
the freqs with the higher numbers ( such as 500.66250) are UHF ( ultra hi freqs)
the frqs with the lower numbers ( such as 154.34000 ) are the VHF ( very hi freqs.)
if you buy a baofeng, make sure it has the upper UHF above 500
like
Frequency Range: 136-174 / 400-520 MHz or learn to hack it in chirp like i did on you tube.
And for gods sake buy the $6.99 programing cable.
Just remember to change the TX (talk) freqs to something like a GMRS freq, (467.7250 MHz) so you DO NOT
interrupt an EMS broadcasts when you mistakenly push the talk button when you pick it up.
