Well Pump?
Got a well, a pump, and electricity......for now.
Any suggestions on how to access well water without public power, short of a generator?

Re: Well Pump?
A lot depends on the depth of the well and the level of the water in the casing. My first house had a 180 foot well, but the water level in the casing was much higher and a hand pump could have been used to get water out in a pinch. A small battery operated pump and a 50 foot hose would have also been a possibility as long it was set up with a foot valve and primed first. Not enough for much but essentials, like drinking and cooking, maybe a bucket to flush the toilet.

Windmill.

Re: Well Pump?
A well bucket. PVC pipe with a check valve on the bottom. Fits down your well casing, sinks owing to the check valve allowing inflow, then you hoist back up with a lanyard.

Re: Well Pump?
Last "crisis" I purchased a 275 gallon Intermediate Bulk Container for water storage when the power was still on.
Make sure it's labeled "Food Grade."

Re: Well Pump?
With short notice like this I would be scrambling to find some 55 gallon food grade drums and collect rain water by whatever means necessary.
Unless you have a shallow well (pump in basement not a submersible) that would allow easy hand pumping or collection I don't think there are many viable alternatives at the moment beyond rain water or suitable generator.
