Re: P226 Elitle in All Black
Is it used? The Elite model has carried wood grips the last couple of years. If it's all black it is not a model of recent offering or they could have been replaced.

Re: P226 Elitle in All Black
If it's a new gun, I don't know for sure, but when Sig came out with the first generation SAS, they ran short of the SAS wood grips and shipped a bunch of guns to dealers with the standard plastic grips. Once Sig received stock of the wood grips, they sent them to the dealers to either put on to the gun or send to the customers who bought them with the plastic grips.
If it's a used gun, the original owner probably took off the wood grips and replaced them with the factory plastic grips. Many people complain that the wood grips are too fat. You can find the Elite grips in the Sig Forum classifieds. They usually sell for $100 - $125.
I suppose it's possible that it could be a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned). CPO's have come in all different kinds of configurations. That where you'll hear the term "Frankensigs"
You can ask your dealer for the serial # of the gun and contact Sig with it and ask them what it is.
If you are considering buying the gun, call or email Sig with the serial number first and they'll should be able to tell you.

Hope this helps!
Good luck

Just a FYI ............ Walnut grips can be had directly from Sig for $100, the rosewoods are the ones you'd have to go searching for and YES, the SigForum is the best place to go lookin ..........
As a matter of fact, I just picked up a set of walnuts for a DAK P220 on the SF for $65 ............... "SCORE"Last edited by Big Dog; October 22nd, 2008 at 07:49 AM.
