One potential silver lining of all of the gunshops closing down is that pics shouldn't be overloaded. Last I heard Bucks is still open but it was taking hours to get the check thru last week. This limited the number of permits they could issue and who wants a bunch of people sitting around for hours crowding your office.

Hopefully the check will now be completed in minutes like they used to be and there is one less excuse for a sheriff not issuing them.

I don't see the democrats in SEPA joining R's for Constitutional Carry. And we would need them for a super majority to pass it with a veto-proof vote, because there's no way commie-freak Wolf signs it.

Or the perfect opportunity for them to say see there isn't a need for constitutional carry along with anything else that makes them feel good

Couldn't agree more. I just posted a thread asking everyone to contact their rep to co-sponsor HB 1412. Let's get some legs on this...

After a lengthy discussion and valuable input from several constituents, I have reconsidered my stance on the suspension of LTC applications. Discussions regarding the COVID 19 virus remain ongoing and constantly changing.

It is evident this pandemic will affect us for a much longer period of time than was originally believed. I do not want to infringe upon anyone’s Constitutional or Second Amendment Rights, or ability to defend themselves or family. That being said, my office will accept applicants by appointment only.

This process will take effect on Monday, March 23, 2020. Please make your appointment by calling 814.693.3100. We will do our absolute best to schedule you as soon as possible. Again, we are taking the health and safety of our community into consideration.

I apologize for any confusion this may have caused but believe this compromise will be beneficial.
As always, God bless and thank you for your support during this crisis.

    Sincerely,
    James E. Ott
    Sheriff
One side of me applauds that this sheriff is trying to make things work. The other side twitches at seeing a PA county duplicate the "set up an appointment to submit your application" paradigm that is so commonly seen here in PRNY.

Why, you ask? Because last time I checked, Onondaga County was setting up appointments for 18 months in the future. That's what "absolute best to schedule you as soon as possible" eventually devolves to.

I'm not saying Sheriff Ott is trying to move in that direction. But that is certainly how counties in PRNY started...
